Well, here it is, surprisingly! It's my next completed AMV!
This one began as a mere idea while I finally got around to watching Samurai Champloo. I thought about Mugen's... interesting fighting style, and how much it would fit Tsugaru. And then I saw episodes 20-21, and thought about putting some of the scenes there in... then thought, "Heck, I could go through the series with this song! And if even has calm parts for Jin!"
But then that was it. I filed the idea (along with 200+ others) into my database and thought little more of it. After all, I already had two AMVs in progress, and was close to completing one of them. Not only that, but there was a convention coming up at RIT--Tora-Con--which was finally putting together an AMV Contest! I wanted to submit the AMV I was already working on--an Elfen Lied video--but when shown its progress, the guy running the contest said it was too gory (oops). This was March 27th. The due date for the AMV contest was April 1st. I thought I had longer to work. T_T
Now I was up a creek. I didn't really want to submit "Ippo Likes to Move It," as much as I liked it--that just doesn't feel like convention material. It's not what I wanted to display as my best work. But with only 5 days left, I didn't have much of a choice. That is, until Mikhal entered the picture. Calmed me down and had me go through my database, eliminating anything that used a full song until I had a short list of ideas. Like 5. And since I already had Samurai Champloo ready--it had been on my laptop since I watched it between classes--the idea to get Tsugaru started came to fruition. And what's more, it would be my first try at only making part of the AMV--sections of the video would be done by Mikhal to take some of the work off of my shoulders. His prospective AMV had also been turned down due to content, so he didn't really have any other project at the time.
So we set off to make an AMV in less than a week. Mikhal used Sony Vegas, and I Windows Movie Maker. Both of us used VirtualDubMod to get our clips made. And with direction from me, a time-code specific outline and lots of patience, we had something that actually fit together. Today, April 1st, the day of the deadline, at 2 AM, we finished this AMV.
As the Org indicates, this is a spoiler video for all of the great battles in Samurai Champloo. No, really. I go through pretty much every significant battle.
In any event, despite technical problems abound as we both figured out how to integrate our programs, we had quite a bit of fun making this AMV, and hopefully you'll have just as much fun--if not more--watching it!
Enjoy, "Because I Spit Hot Fire!"
P.S. Oh yeah, and about the title... give us a break. It was 2 AM!
==Con Update!==
So holy crap, I can't believe it... but my video actually managed to get into the finals. And win. Twice. I can't believe it! It's so cool! It was even having technical difficulties (displaying at half the framerate it should, de-synching)! I'm so stoked.
Winner:
Best Action - Tora-Con 2006
Best in Show - Tora-Con 2006 (Tied with "I Do [heart] Yuri")
==UPDATE: August 6th, 2006==
Found some nice hosting, so I put up a direct link to a much better quality version. It's MKV using h264/AAC. Colors look cleaner, resolution is more correct, etc.
