    This is sort of a sister video to my Takuto and Mitsuki manga tribute :D
    Again, I made it a very long time ago and it was never intended to be shared with anyone other than my close friends, but I think fans might appreciate it. It's certainly not one of my more complex videos, but hey, someone out there might like it.

    I babbled a decent amount in my anime/manga crossover Izumi and Meroko AMV, "Don't Speak", but I think this one calls for an even bigger babble. You've been warned.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    :::Start Babble:::

    Izumi and Meroko. One of my favorite couples of all time. They are tragedy and sorrow and pain and all that good stuff wrapped up in true love (of course love is always these things, but these two are a really extreme case).

    The anime...big sigh. I love the anime so much, but my biggest problem with it (because it is so very different from the manga) is Izumi and Meroko's relationship. In the anime, Izumi is portrayed as the "Bay Guy" with a scary possessive thing for Meroko. Their relationship is seen in a very negative light as being mentally abusive and really rooted in control. Yea that's great and everything, but the biggest problem is that they try to pull off this whole... "Meroko doesn't really love Izumi anymore, she has pity on him maybe, but only loves Takuto now" thing. Bull. The manga told a very different story.

    In the manga (I tell you this because most people who have seen the anime haven't read it), Meroko acts as though she's IN love with Takuto because she's still so scarred from Izumi leaving her. She just wanted someone to BE there, no matter who. Sure she loves Takuto as a friend, but that's it. She just missed Izumi. Izumi is NOT, I repeat NOT a bad guy in the manga. Yea he starts off a little devilish but really he's just there because he misses Meroko so much. He realized that letting her go was a mistake. (I could go on and on and on...and I will.)

    So anyway...Izumi doesn't torment her. He likes seeing her panic, but when she really seems to be in pain, he is ALWAYS quick to comfort her. Their attraction for each other in the manga is very clear straight away, and they act on it rather quickly. Izumi simply wants Meroko to be happy (for once) because she deserves it. Even if he remains somber (his origin is sadder than any other shinigami and is completely overlooked in the anime...but I'll save that ramble for another day) he'd do anything for her smile.

    It's not about control or possessiveness, Izumi and Meroko truly love each other in the manga, and though I still love them in the anime- there is no justice done to their real relationship.

    In addition to all of this....their endings are entirely different in the manga (and SOOO MUCH BETTER!!!). I won't go into that, but trust me when I say that you all should REALLY read the manga. It's entirely worth it and remains one of my favorites.

    :::End Babble:::

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    This video was made to show a sort of Izumi-ish POV on their relationship (him being a bit of a sadist, but not wanting her to change into something darker than himself). Simple, yet effective, in my opinion. Please enjoy :D
