  • Comments: I promised myself I would never create a Naruto AMV. After all, there are so many... so many with the same music and the same action sequences. But when I was listening to my Disney Greatest Hits album I realized that I had to do this.

The original concept was going to be the 4th and Naruto. Their connection, whether or not they're blood related is not the issue, but clearly there is a deeper relationship between them. However, since the Yondaime as of yet hasn't really made any substanial anime appearances that idea was scraped, after all it gets old to see shots of Naruto and then the 4th up on the rock over and over again.

So I broadened my focus. I thought of the cast of characters in a pyramid. With Naruto on the top. His most imporant people underneath that (Iruka, Kakashi, Sasuke, Sakura) and of course then the rookie nine, team Gai, etc... until I had a better base. I also thought about the fact that not just the 4th influenced Naruto, but the other Hokages as well, even if he only ever knew 2 out of the 5. And of course Naruto is not the only one touched by the older generations influence either. The culture of the Hidden Village of Konoha is that of continuity, the more things change the more they stay the same. The young ninja grow and florish because of the community they live in. Certainly it's not perfect, but there is a heavy reliance on understanding where one comes from to know where one is going.

The song is originally from Rhythm of the Pride Lands, a soundtrack that came out a year after the original Lion King did and then made it into Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, to replace the "Circle of Life" opening in the beginning of the movie. I love the "Circle of Life" but it didn't work well for my purposes, the length was too short, and "He Lives In You" has a more clear focus. Also the line that winds up being repeated twice, "Hear the words and have faith" was what inspired the overall look of the video. I included quotes from various manga and anime moments. And although they were spoken at specfic times to specific people they're words that motivate all the villagers, words that Naruto in particular can take to heart in his struggle to become Hokage one day.

There are several "Lion King-ish" moments in this, however there is a line between sentimental and cheesy. I suppose my favorite sequence is the last chorus, and then the last quote ties it all up. In any case I only hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed the process of creating it.

Finally there aren't any over abundent spoilers in this. Mentions of events post chuunin exam but nothing that gives too much away. No subs, of course. I created this with Adobe, my first time playing with the program. It's 5 minutes 39 seconds long with the credits. Other than that I think that about sums it up.
