- Mercedes Lackey For Talia
I'll go more in depth since people will be watching this video on the AWA tape. The song is by Mercedes Lackey, sang by Meg Davis, and I personally love the song. It's just really touching.
I don't want to ruin the video for those who haven't seen it. But any man who would honestly and openningly sing such words out loud to the woman he loved, is sweet, and more so, very humble. I think that's a key word to the video.
When I think of Humble, the character that comes to mind is Kenshin. He refers to himself often enough as 'this lowly person' in the TV series and manga. There are also so many other words in the lyrics that fit Kenshin as well. Now this is Kenshin when he's with Kaoru, for he's very different when he was with Tomoe. I really enjoyed the manga first and foremost, because of the character of Kenshin. He's sad and alone and just wanting someone to love. But then he doesn't dare let himself love anyone due to the whole thing that happened with Tomoe. I've written alot of fanfiction analysing Kenshin as well. Basically I just adore his character.
I've always wanted to make an AMV to the song using Kenshin. But it had to be about Kaoru. But I didn't have the right footage. I didn't have the footage really. The TV series was to funny and the art style was just not right for the music. So I put the idea to the back burner. Then I saw the second OAVs. I cried for 10 minutes at the end of the movie. I put in the CD and listened to this song once, and new right away that I would make the video.
Thi video took far less time then other projects I have done (Only 3 hours). It's a very simple piece, but it's not trying to be more the short and sweet and simple. It's about Kenshin's love for Kaoru, and you don't need a complex story to tell it. You don't need flashy effects either. I think the song really just tells the story I wanted to tell. It's a little rough around the edges but I may clean it up in the future. I maybe shouldn't have submitted it to AWA but I wanted to send something to the Pro contest and this was my newest.
The pacing of the video is very slow, but that's how it's meant to be. It's not a music video, as it's more imagery while someone is reading a poem outloud (set to music). After watching the video and hearing the last words of the song, rewatch the video and it will have even more meaning.
I rotate what video I host, at about 1 every week (sometimes more often). So if the video you wanted to download was not available, take the poll and tell me which video you want to see. (I'm basing what to put up on the poll vs hits on the various video links, because if you take the time to use the poll your more likely to come back when the video is hosted). Then simply check in next week to see what I'm showing. I'm sorry I have to do this but I don't have that much space.
