I really can't explain this, not at all.

Before anything else, I should probably explain the name. It comes from the fact that Ed and Al are really in the process of being apart from the very beginning, and onyl when Ed 'dies' does it really become obvious. And, for all the time Mireille insists she's going to kill/leave Kirika, she never actually does (leave) until the very end. They both have copious amounts of time to make their farewells, but when it comes down to the wire, they don't. Like, it slips their minds or something. Weird. Anywho, it fits with the subject of the song-- the guy's reluctant to leave, but knows he has to. There's Ed and Mireille in a nutshell, folks. Ed probably is aware of the price he'll have to pay in restoring Al from near the very beginning, and Mireille is convinced she can't be with Kirika. There you have it, strange as that may be.

It began as an idea to do an all-FMA video focusing on Ed and Al, and their separation at the end of the series. I noticed that there weren't any videos on the site that explored the ever-popular pairing of Elricest. I heard this song, and immediately had it in my head that it was perfect for an Ed/Al AMV, provided certain footage could be found. However, one whole bridge of the song didn't work: "I think about the night I met you/I swore I'd never forget you/Well, I won't". Obviously, Ed and Al "met" when Al was born, and Ed probably wasn't even aware of it. Not to mention, everyone knows Ed could never forget him. Other complications arose with my lack of access to clips from the movie (as in, NONE), and thus having difficulty finding shots of Ed and Al hugging/embracing, which is a HUGE part of the chorus. Big problem. So at this point, I had to find another pairing to put into the video. That is when it became a splice/hybrid video with Noir.

I realized, while mourning the incontinuity of that one bit-- and that I couldn't just edit it out without ruining the song-- that it still fit Kirika and Mireille from Noir perfectly. In fact, the whole song did. But I couldn't just give up on my dream of making an Elricest AMV. So I put the two together, alternating sequences of Noir and FMA. It looked pretty good, but there was one part of the video I wasn't quite happy with.

At one point in the song it said, "I know you're gonna fall in love again/I'm sorry this is how it has to end" and then goes to the main chorus. The first line fit with Kirika and Mireille, or I could have done Al and Winry, but I had no good footage of the latter. Mireille and Kirika it was, and I had a fitting, perfectly-timed clip to lead into the next part of the song. But something wouldn't let me leave it be. I had this niggling memory of a clip of Edward being stabbed by Envy and bleeding out on the floor, and it was too perfect. But I had to figure out how to make it not throw the rest of the video off (I had finished everything else by the time I went back to change that). I hope I have accomplished that; you tell me. Please, if you leave an opinion, say something about that. Put it under good, bad, I don't care, just mention it! I need to know, for my own fragile peace of mind. Just in case it sucks the way it is, I made two versions. If anyone would like the one that uses only Noir in that sequence (it flows better, I think), e-mail me, and I'll send it to you.

Thank you all for watching this video, I hope you enjoy it!
