  • Comments: After a long period of deliberation, it was decided that INSO2 would actually get listed. This video was made a long time before the entry here was done, and was not listed for so long because I was not certain that it would qualify as an AMV in the sense that this site supports, mostly because there was quite literally no editing involved.

INSO2 got the tag (as opposed to a SH number) because of that reason; it's a one-clip video that makes a cool combo without any interference; the section sampled is that from about 12:00 to 15:40 of episode 19. I had Sound of Perseverance playing while clipping this episode for use in SH082 and SH083, and the song matched as though perfectly cued in to this sequence. Not really demanding in production terms, but a nice little distraction.

There have been other one-clip videos, but mostly relying on action synch. There is a fair bit of action synch in this one, but what really sets it off is the way the music moves as the scene changes and the feel changes. There's almost *meaning* to it, but it may not emerge unless the viewer's seen the episode in question (and one certain other Excel Saga episode), but accessibility is the price to be paid for finding something both meaningful and self-organizing.

Shin Hats Self Grade: C-. It's a one-clip video, what the hell do you want?
Stats: # clips: 3. average length: 74 seconds. total time: 0.5 hours.

Though there are allegedly 3 cuts in this one, this is only because the editing environment used for this video doesn't do fades in or out without appropriate video. All-black clips had to be constructed for every fade-down in every SH (or INSO) video produced between SH001 and SH092, and this was no exception.

Cutting this sequence entire did cause some problems that only emerged in post-production; I have no clue what caused the compression problems and crazy pixellation in that one cut at the end (revealing what's in this cut significantly spoils episode 19 of Excel Saga).
