- Youko HONNA Country Road (Japanese - Theme song of Mimi wo Sumaseba)
The creation of this video centered around the breaking in of my brand new DIY computer system, complete with my first video capture card. The video took a few days to complete, with the vast majority of the time spent trying to figure out how to capture workable clips to be used in Premiere for editing, and then trying out some of suggestions found in Ermac's Guides in an attempt to produce a decent copy of the finished AMV for web distribution. Egad! The problems encountered during exporting and encoding were enough to kill, talk about Murphy's Law!
In contrast, the editing only took about 2 hours tops, including tweaking and stuff because there are no fancy effects, just an extensive use of fade ins and outs. However, do not be misled into thinking that this video is the result of a half-baked idea that was haphazardly slapped together in order to test drive my capture card. This was actually a labour of love. Why, you ask. Well...becoz...
1. The anime used is one of my all time favourites. The simple but touching coming of age story, coupled with the beautiful illustrations and the perfectly matched theme song resulted in a true work of art (I mean the anime, not the AMV).
2. I've actually developed the concept for the AMV ages ago, but could not make it then because I didn't have a capture card (my previous video footages were all ripped from VCDs). So I'm happy that I managed to make it.
3. This video features, IMHO, the best and most memorable scenes in the anime, so this is a trip down memory lane for those who enjoyed watching the anime. BTW, if you have not watched the anime yet, take this as a SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!!!!!
As mentioned before, this is just a simple AMV with little effects, but if you want to relive the magic of the anime, then just kick back, relax and enjoy the show!
