  • Comments: This was the second video I created under the pseudonym of Spooky Dinosaur Turco.

Whereas my first Dinosaur video, Kid Eva, started out seriously, Hell Maid May was a joke from the very beginning. Fantomas' cover of Ava Satani (from the film The Omen) was one of the freakiest songs I'd ever heard, so I decided, under the guise of Dinosaur Studios, to use the most innocuous show I could get my hands on and use lots of random digital effects to make a faux-horror video.

At the time, I was borrowing Paizuri's Hand Maid May DVDs, so I captured about 5 minutes of clips on my DV500, then randomly cut them up and arranged them in Premiere. I then spent the next hour applying every random filter and effect I could find. Half of the time, I didn't even know what the effect was that I was applying. The only thing I put in on purpose was the spinning clip during the song's "climax." By the time I was ready to render, I had NO idea whatsoever how the rest of the video would look. It took about half an hour to render (this was on a real-time editing card), and the first time I watched it was the first time I saw the results of all the random effects. That was kind of fun :)

One of the other Dinosaur Studios members came up with the title, but I can't remember who it was :P

Also, the sound effects used during the bumpers are ultra-slowed-down clips from Fantomas' cover of the Godfather theme :)
