This would be my first video of 2004. Wow, like anyone has actually been waiting for this. I had the idea just a week ago because I finished watching Maria-sama Ga Miteru and thought the song went well with it, and decided to go for it. I'm sending this to a few conventions this year but it's mainly just a very simple attempt at a romance video.
In the anime, episodes 10 and 11 focus on a character named Yui, otherwise known as Rosa Gigantea. She's the tomboy of the show, but in these episodes, we get to see her more mellow side of herself, and a dark history of her past love becomes open. We soon find out that she did have a love by the name of Shiori, and while they were involved, in the end, Shiori could not return the love that Yui felt for her, and it was heartbreak. Because of this, Yui's life will never be the same.
Technically this is one of my better videos, but one of my most simple videos still. I actually figured out how to do rubber-banding finally but I was really picky with it since this was my first time. There are a couple of little errors but it looks good for the most part. Also, the footage comes from digisubs that had been mapped to DVD and given to me. I ripped the VOBs, used Virtual DUb Mod to convert the scenes I needed into MJPEG, cropped them in VirtualDub, edited in Premiere, exported in MJPEG, and then cleaned up the file in VirtualDub. The version online is not perfect quality but it looks decent to me.
About the song: some of you may recognize the song from an episode of Dawson's Creek, since it was the first time that I heard it. I tried to find the CD on amazon.com but I found out that it was an Independent release. The CD is called Blue Parade and it's so brilliant. You can buy it at her website, which is where I got it.
This video will go online after it premieres at it's first convention stop, but I'm not sure if it'll go online locally but I will put it on my website.
