• Comments: I started this AMV way back in 2012. I had found some good quality footage of the anime Hero Tales, as HD Anime was just starting to become standard when this series aired in 2007-2008, and although the footage I had wasn't fully HD, it was close enough, and better than the DVD footage I had been used to prior.
  
  I don't remember how or why I chose to use this song (this song is actually an edited version from a compilation album), but after I threw some clips down, I found that the anime and song blended beautifully and that the lyrics matched pretty well. I even found some parts where lip syncing seemed to work (although at that time it was pretty rough, and the lips didn't match perfectly). I had about a third of the AMV done, but just didn't finish it and the AMV sat dormant on a hard drive for over a decade.
  
  Fast-forward to now, I'm getting back into AMVs, and I'm going through my hard drive and finishing old AMVs that deserve to be finished. I see that the footage I had been using was old TV rips, most of which are 1024x576 resolution (only a couple episodes being 720p). I figured there must be better footage available, since the show was produced in full HD after all. Well, despite that, it never actually got a blu-ray release, and was only available on DVD. But hold on, couldn’t I watch this anime on Crunchyroll in HD? Why can't I get that footage? Well, the fact is I CAN get that footage (although I won't go into how, here). I then proceeded to obtain every episode in glorious 1080p.
  
  I re-created the parts of the AMV I had already done, using the new HD footage and some better editing techniques. From there it was smooth sailing to finish it in time to enter it into the 2023 Anime Boston AMV contest.
  
  This AMV follows Taitou, the “hero” of Hero Tales, and it is an upbeat depiction of his journeys (following most of the lyrics pretty literally). The lip syncing came out perfectly and I really feel like I was able to match Taitou's expressions with the tone of the vocals. The second half of the AMV is instrumental, so I just continue to show Taitou overcoming obstacles and eventually defeating the evil that threatens him and his friends, ending on a nice fade-out.
