  • Comments: Sometime around late 2017/early 2018, I was rewatching Rider4z's "The Optimists" AMV when a thought came in my head that the song used in this video, Pompeii, could possibly work the then-recent anime series Girls' Last Tour. Originally, there was some reluctance to do this project due to me learning that the lyric that I assumed went "Oh, I'm gonna be an optimist about this." actually went "How am I gonna be an optimist about this?". However, after seeing how the basic concept of the song (a conversation between two victims of the destruction of Pompeii) works well with the show's premise of two girls traveling across a post-apocalyptic world and how the contrasting nature of the Chito and Yuuri would actually fit perfectly with the lyric that I originally misheard, I eventually decided to go ahead with this video.

    Editing this one is definitely a different experience when compared to my other videos as, while there's still some lighthearted moments, this video has a more "dramatic" feel to it. Because I was making something that's different from my norm, I got used to utilizing some new skills during the creation process (some of which I began to use during work on the unfinished project that was my original plan for Anime USA 2017 before time concerns made me opt to make The Golden Mosaic Girls instead), with me eventually feeling that my own editing skills have improved by the time I finished work this video. However, things weren't smooth sailing, as I had to deal with such problems as making some footage "usable", having to change a scene due to my original plan being too risque for general audience contests, and rendering issues.

    Editing frustrations aside, it was a fun experience trying my hands at something that is different from the usual types of videos that I make.
