Anime World Chicago 2012: Best In Show

Editor's Request: Please do not upload this up on youtube or any streaming video site yourself! I will be uploading this to my account so there no need for you too upload it on yours. I do not like seeing my videos on someone else account so please respect my request.

Oh wow. There a lot to say about this video I'm not sure where to start.

First I have to say this is by far the proudest I've felt about any of my videos. I'm really happy I was about to finish this, after 2 years of not really editing anything but fan-pan and every other project I've started fell this really made me feel like the editor I want to be.

Also I was finally able to do something with this video that I've been wanting to do since day 1 of joining the org....Upload a new video on my birthday. Yep the date in the video/release date is my birthday. Another is to draw the poster/banner for a video which as you see above I did. You can find the clean version on DA.

Anyway a little info about the video itself. There isn't too much to say about how this idea came into place. After watching the anime( Fun Fact: I was introduced to the anime because of this fanart that I found on Pixiv. So you can imagine my surprise when I looked it up lol) I wanted to make a video using it. However having been in a editing block for so long I was starting to doubt myself if I could really do it, and finding a song proved to be changeling. Then I found 'No Fear” by the Rasmus one thing lead to another and I started getting footage together. Along the way this became somewhat of a learning video since I bought newer computer and started using Vegas pro 10 instead of Ulead Studios 7.

I don't know why but I was so determined to finish this, pushing myself like I never have before and when I final finished it I just sat back thinking I did it... I almost couldn't believe it. So here is the video that I couldn't be happier that it is finished and I love every second of it. I just hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do.

All footage from episodes 1-10 are from the official Japanese DVDs while 11&12 are from the AT-X broadcast. You may notice some different animations if you watched the original broadcast or other videos using this anime created before the DVD releases. SHAFT is known for changing things/fixing errors for their DVD releases so not only wanting this video to be good I wanted it to look good as well so I went ahead and got the DVD versions. Only reason I'm not waiting for the last one was because I wanted to enter this is a few contest, along with the release date in mind, and the last volume won't be out till after the set release date. The AT-X broadcast of the series also had changes compared to the TBS/MBS broadcast since they were shown later so I wanted to use them instead. Credits where created using the menus from the 1st 5 DVDs.

The title comes from the title of episode 4 Both Miracles and Magic Exist in which the line (translation via fansub) "They exist...Miracles and Magic...They do exist" used in the intro is said by the character Sayaka Miki (the one with blue hair) voiced by Eri Kitamura in the same episode, originally with no music in the background. My reason for picking that title...I really like the line. Through in retrospect the title for episode I'm Not Afraid Of Anything Anymore fits the songs name a bit better but I didn't like it as a title for an AMV.

Intro song is Conturbatio and the credits song is Sis puella magica! Both are composed by Yuki Kajiura and are from the official OST. Kajiura is one of my favorite composers and I love listing to all of her work, Madoka no different, so I thought I would use them for the intro/credits.

Thanks to all my friends and beta testers for their help and support. Couldn't have done this without you guys.
