  • Comments: Well, here's something I haven't done in a while: made two videos in the same year. Since I got to college, I've been using my Winter break as a good time to make videos, because, for the most part, I can blow a lot of people off at that time and just settle down to work. That's how I got my last three videos done, for the most part. This time, however, I wanted to make a comedy, and I wanted it to be done in the style of the AMV Hell Series... I sincerely intend this as flattering imitation, not blatant copying of their idea. To that end, I made 15 clips and put them together. Because each was rather short, and I had an extremely solid idea from the start for what each second would contain, this video didn't cost me so much of my own time. Though I did spend something close to 48 hours on a number of trains while making it, so being shut up in that sort of area so long really was helpful for this video.

I'm sorry to say that not all the ideas are mine - my girlfriend came up with quite a few of them, and I just put them to video. For some reason, I felt compelled to use only recent anime - the oldest I go for in here is Ef: A Tale of Melodies, from 2008. I sort of feel like the older anime have had their time in the sun, and everything funny about them has already been used in some way, shape or form. That's not to say that you can't still be funny with them - that's just to say that someone's probably already done something similar to them, so I felt there was little point in reaching back a ways. Almost all anime in this video came out in 2011, and so the comedy should still be fresh. I think I might even have the jump on a few new ones that people might not be using too much of yet.

That being said, this IS my first comedy, which made for an interesting experience. I've mostly done action and drama, and there's a lot of room for interpretation in those categories - with comedy, it's either hit or miss, it seems. A slight timing error leads to exasperation rather than hilarity. Like most people, however, I like to think I'm funny, and so I'm giving this a shot. Thanks for reading, and here's hoping you get a laugh out of what comes next.
