I am still using Final Cut Express 4 but I finally got my new Mac Pro! I got it because of the HD videos that I capture with my camcorder so it really has no effect with the amv projects that I work on ... except that I can render them much quicker!
Again, I really wanted to do something different and it didn’t quite turn out the way that I wanted ... mostly because of lack of the type of footage I was hoping to find.
This amv is inspired by the movie “Xanadu”. I wanted to do a “fantasy” type video in the style of portion of the movie where Olivia Newton-John sings the song “Suspended in Time” and “I’m Alive”. But lack of that type of footage made it impossible.
So I settled for doing a lip sync amv, which will likely be my last. It’s an incredible amount of work. And since I thought it would be boring for the entire video to be a lip sync, like the movie’s “Suspended in Time”, I ended up with an amv that looks much like what I’ve done before.
The one additional tool that I used this time was a FREE 50-point bezier matte by Tom Henderson. It was the first time that I’ve used a bezier tool so it was a learning experience.
Also since I wasn’t planning to do another Kenshin and Kaoru video, I was again challenged by finding footage of them. I had to spend time watching episodes that I normally don’t watch so you’ll see several scenes from episodes that I don’t consider part of the “real” story.
Overall, I’m pleased with the results and will continue to strive to do a more visual amv.
During the past few months, I’ve learned quite a bit about different compressions and this will be my first MPEG-4 video. It still uses the H.264 codec so I’m still happy with the quality but am able to produce a much smaller sized video file.
