Anyways, this is a promotional video for an anime tournament called International Saimoe League. For more information, please use this link:
The video itself was done over a short period of time since it had to meet the deadline, which is well before the start of the final phases of the tournament. There are some problems that I encountered, and although some were solved, some were not. After all, I would call it a success since it was acceptably done under time pressure.
Lip flap is one of the most noticeable problems in this video. For some characters, such as Konata, lip flap cannot be avoided since she rarely shuts up and I do not have all of the sources for Lucky Star. This is still a promotional video, which should be a character profile aimed at showing the different expressions of the character, so in some cases, lip flap is (in my opinion) acceptable. Tsukasa and Haruhi fit this category, since talking is one of their moe points. There are also other minor issues that I was unable to fix.
Another problem is my reluctance to include other characters except for the one I'm representing, especially other main characters and/or other characters in the tournament. This was especially difficult with Konata, because most of her interactions without her friends are clicking on the computer or playing video games. It was extremely difficult for Nanoha and Fate, since they have to be separated from each other, and we all know that does not happen. Another example is Tomoyo, someone who has very little air time in comparison to the other female leads. Episode 24, the "Tomoyo OVA," feature a Tomoyo who is inseparable from Tomoya, which is of course not usable for the video.
Then there's the fact that Nanoha and Nanoha A's DVDs, are in 4:3 and not 16:9.
And the last problem is that this video is supposed to be done by me by the request of someone and that someone had a clear picture of what he wanted in his head. Of course, I cannot read minds, so I did the best I could with some compromises. All credits for the text and quotes as well as music selection goes to this other person, the administrator of International Saimoe League.
The introduction is taken from the anime 5 Centimeters per Second, created by Makoto Shinkai. Yes, it is beautiful. The ending is a combination of scenes from Clannad, Kanon (2006), Chrno Crusade, and 5 Centimeters per Second. Note that I used the anime Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gaiden Nekogoroshi-hen, not the first season, but those were not on the anime list.
Last but not least, enjoy the video, and I hope that it lead to some interest in voting in ISML. It is a fun tournament, so please go and support your favorite characters on September 30th, 2008. If you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me in the forums.
