Whenever I watch Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, I get this weird feeling. To me it's journey to the minds of some of the most interesting characters I've ever seen in anime. To me the most interesting part is that every single one of them is thoroughly deranged. They are defined and driven by their madness. Someone said something along the words "The insane are the true sane ones". What does that make of the batshit ones?
Even if I know exactly how the anime makes me feel, I can't even try to dress it to words. Best I can do is to say that it emanates organised chaos. I wanted to capture that feeling into an AMV.
Needless to say, I think I failed. But that's just normal for me. Someone might disagree.
The song I used, Acid Theatre by The Kovenant gave me roughly similar feeling as the anime did, so it came to mind pretty quickly when I started considering the audio.
The editing process was less than satisfactory one. The video sources were hard to find, and they only had medium quality. I had decided to participate in Animecon 2008 AMV-competition with this amv. Practically that means that I had to rush it to it's finish, leaving it seriously flawed.
I wanted to use better quality video material. I wanted to use more time with it, so that I could see it as whole. I wanted to fix the most fatal flaws that I couldn't see because of the rush, too sharp cuts and such. Practically I would have to redo it. Twice, if done separately. It just seems wiser to wait for better raws and then begin from the scratch. So, that's what I'm going to do. But because someone might be happy even with this version, so I'm releasing it now. After all, realistically I probably won't be making a remake any time soon.
Even this version has some redeeming qualities. You might disagree, though.
EDIT: I forgot Lucky Star, ffs.
