THIS VIDEO IS FUNNY IN CONTEXT! Really! Before you even download or watch my video, go check out Vic Bond's Requiem for Excel - http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=7723.
Done? Good. Now, what I've done is, as a joke, made a comic video using serio-comic footage from a comic series set to a serious song as a parody of a serious video that was made as a joke that uses serious footage from a comic series set to a serious song. Phew! I'm not even going to try to untangle that.
Anyway, I wanted to spoof Vic in his own contest at Anime USA. I thought there's no way he'll put it in the contest - I mean, it's good, but probably five people would get the joke. Requiem for Excel is an older video - a more recent reference would be Believe. But R4E was an easier video to deconstruct, and the deadline was coming up, so, as Osaka would be forced to say, "What the heck?"
Now, if you pay really close attention, you'll notice that there are two more fades than in Vic's video. They don't really mean anything, it just made the video flow a little smoother. There are some very specofoc scenes that I wanted to match, such as the crying scene at the end. There are other little things around, too, such as replacing the rectangle in the corner of the screen with the Azumanga Daioh "Ah!" word balloon. And no, Yamamaya is never run over by Yukari in the series - that was the most dramatic bit, and it was entirely made up.
So, enough of me, please, enjoy!
