Hey everyone~
This is my very first anime music video. After spending a good amount of time getting used to Adobe Premiere Pro, I finally decided to make this AMV.
The song obviously is "Kelly Clarkson - Behind These Hazel Eyes". Yesh yesh, I know the song is retarded and probably over done by 100 other AMV creators, but being my first video I wanted something easy to work with.
As the song is geared towards a more dramatic connotation I needed an anime series that would fit as well. It just so happens that Saishuuheiki Kanojo (Saikano) was the closest DVD within my reach at the time. So I ripped it and started on my AMV.
In short the AMV is broken down into 3 main parts. Following the lyrics quite closely, I dedicated the first third to Chise and her struggle and grief. In the second third, I dedicated this portion to Akemi and her struggle and grief. In the last part, it is Chise again, but I decided since it’s near the end of the song, why not show some apocalyptic explosions and situations, to top off the chorus. The video doesn't really portray a story, but rather shows the struggles and pains of the two girls in the series. The anime sure didn't have a happy ending. Too many people died, so I decided it would only be a pain for me to try to create a fake happy ending from a really depressing anime.
The video itself was not difficult to make. Besides Adobe Premiere Pro crashing on me almost 10 times a day, the process was more or less painless. I was lazy and did not mark down or pre-plan my AMV, so I spent most of my time digging through the episodes looking for scenes that matched.
I started on this AMV roughly 3 days prior to the postmark date for the AX2006 AMV Contest submission date. With a number of BAWLS Guarana next to my keyboard, I was able to power edit for a few nights and get it done on the day. So if you notice that I get sloppy in some areas, it is most likely because I was ridiculously tired. Don't bash me for it. :)
For export, I just did a full render as a lossless HuffYUV AVI file. It came out clean with minor errors:
- Not sure why, but my video seems to be pressed vertically a few pixels. Must be something with the footage, but it still looks fine. The average person couldn't tell the mistake.
- At a certain point in the video, you can see a single frame of artifacting. It is not supposed to be there and I've done several re-renders and the single frame just keeps popping up around the same area. It was such a small problem that I decided to let it go. It was practically unnoticeable.
Like I said, this is my first AMV, and I hope your enjoy it as much as I did enjoy watching Adobe Premiere Pro crash on me. j/k :)
