Strange character in "Alice in wonderland", who's drinking tea with the March Hare, Kaori Yuki took him in her wonderful manga : Angel Sanctuary.
There, Mad Hatter is a fallen angel, soiled and discharged, who enjoys making other angels fall. She seems to be androgyne, but Mad Hatter is a woman, who loves Lucifer, the morning star, of a perverse love.
The butterfly symbolizes her, insect who misleads you, who makes you believe in inconsiderate things. When the illusions are broken, stays only its smell.
