  • Profile: I haven't been on this site in about 2 years and just started to get back in the game. I thank you all for your comments in advance; they help me understand how my work affects other people.

    Yes, I agree that the subtitles in the earlier works are annoying but we have to start some where. The first video I did was done to Alice Deejay's “It’s A Fine Day” using WMM. It was mainly just pictures and a few bits of footage but was where I learned about the transitions and fades in WMM. In all my AMV’s I have a general idea of the area I want the video to be. I don’t just put my favorite “mainstream” music to an anime I like and throw in the scenes. I do careful planning about the focus I’m going for. What do I want this video to signify? I search to find the best song that amps up that feeling I’m going for, not just by the sound, but by the lyrics as well. Most of the time I look for songs that aren’t on the radio, I try to avoid what most people do. I place powerful fight scenes at strong rifts in the songs, punches during cymbal crashes. I constantly format the video so I can make sure that there aren’t any split second shots of the next scene. I spend a great deal of the on my work so that I can make it the best I can possibly make it.

    Ichigo Ascends was my first AMV. All the video I downloaded foe this one and Full Devil Gaara were fan subs, thus the subtitles. I used the lyrics from Trivium’s “ASCENDANCY” to help with the path I choose to go for with this video. Ichigo, in the anime, basically ascends above the ashes. He rises above all that is set before him.

    Full Devil Gaara was more of a darker tone. This time I wanted to use the subtitles to my advantage. In regards to one comment about how my video “lacked originality”, my focus was to show that Garra felt like, just as the lyrics say, that “you made a monster outta me”. I tried to make it to were you would feel how he felt that they madder him what he is. I only used footage with subtitles that would go with the song, so that if you read them, they went together nicely. Think how back in the old days the movies had words and music but not speech capabilities. It’s like that except with lyrics, so if your mind can’t handle too many things going on at once, I can see how it could annoy you and throw you off.

    My third AMV was inspired by an ex girlfriend. My Most Precious, using Tsubasa Chronicles to Cold’s “Happens all the time” is a love themed AMV. Let’s hear them say I’m not romantic hehe. I used Adobe Premičre Pro and only used scenes without subtitles.
