- Profile: I consider myself an anime fan, not an otaku. Because I have an extensive background in film and legal studies, I believe that I take a different approach to viewing anime. I am trying to learn as much as I can about the anime culture in Japan and how it reflects Japanese culture as a whole. I enjoy looking for American influences in the stories.
Conversely, I believe that I am in touch with the child inside me. This fact allows me, at other times, the enjoyment of just sitting back and getting lost in a story. That is why I can appreciate the societal issues raised in "Now and Then, Here and There" while at the same time identifying with the innocent libido of Goldenboy.
I consider myself a collector. I probably have between 60-80 anime titles on DVD and another 20 or so on VHS. I hope that, along with my comic books, I can one day pass my anime collection to my children and give them an opportunity to enjoy this artform.
Finally, I wish I had the time and the technological background to create the art of my fellow members. Unfortunately, all I can do is download vigorously any AMV's I can find and quietly give my respect and admiration for a job well done. Thank you.
