- Profile: On the edge I do sit,
looking down this dark pit,
wondering where it leads,
if there's a place that it feeds.
This pit on which I sit
is dark and everlong,
while my thoughts do drift
wondering where I belong.
I think of the pit and dream,
my mind reels in the stream
of images I see and feel,
but pain strikes me still.
I remember where I sit
and remember the pit,
still wondering where it leads,
but now knowing what it feeds.
This pit feeds my life,
and like it my life is strife,
but unlike the pit,
my life does not fit.
This pit has a place,
a time, and a face,
while the life that I lead
has no place, no time, and no seed.
For my life is like the pit,
dark and bottomless.
My dreams just don't fit
in the life that is so endless.
The only way to fight,
the only way to stay,
is to find my special light,
and make each ray a brand new day.
My life is long and I must say,
