The world of editing~

The world of editing is an unfortunate one. The small community that we do have is torn between two sides with similar goals and most of the people in those communities are fighting to survive.
Youtube - Youtube is great for many reasons and terrible for all too many reasons and most new amv makers will start here.
Good points: Access to uploading is fast and simple, and you can easily watch your favorite anime music videos by clicking a few times.
Bad points: Editors do NOT get subjected to basic editing techniques when they start. Uploads lose quality due to youtube grading. The community is based on popularity numbers and not editing skill in general.
The Org:
The org is a great place to begin. It has so much that editors can learn from and grow from and i think that any editor looking to become as good as they can be aught to look there.
Good points: Opinions give in-depth critiques of your amvs that let the user know how exactly his amv fairs in the community. The forums and chat rooms let people converse with editors who have been editing for generations.
Bad points: The TROLLS. Its so hard to be accepted on the org because people will push you down and not let you join in. They see anyone from youtube being lesser than them. Its elitist. Now, not everyone is like that. But most people dont know how to handle a single troll and will find the org to be a hard place to join.
The community as a whole is biased. Its a struggle of whos better at editing. If you suck balls you WILL be told THAT U SUCK BALLS. :|
And it doesnt stop there. If an editor thinks he/shes the best at what he/she does...he/she will BRAG.
He/she will attempt to find any way possible to say he/shes the best.
You wouldnt think that anyone would believe....but they DO.
And thats where the problem occurs.....
WHAT IS GOOD EDITING?
This is a debate that will go on as long as editing exists. The problem is the competition. Beta battling to see whos the best is a common youtube practice...and heck it even happens on the org sometimes. Why do we attempt to challenge our neighboring editors to see if were better? Ive noticed its mostly males. Women rarely are as competitive and mostly do meps, collabs, etc instead of battling each other until one of them is so exhausted they cant even edit for a few days.
Good editing to me...is all about 3 key elements.
Quality - Did you script? Do you know how to encode? Do you dvd rip or do you convert some torrented clips?
Effort - Did you actually try? Is this just for show...whats your overall goal?
Attitude - Dont be cocky. If you think your best, keep it in your pants. If you make an amv saying how awsm you are....then your no better than any other editor who thinks they know what their doing.
If you dont fit these requirements....dont worry. It doesnt mean your a bad editor.
Just be nicer to people is all i ask :/

"This is the best amv ive ever seen" = Dont listen to comments like these. No one and i repeat NO ONE has seen enough amvs to say whats best and whats not.
"Sux" = Just say thanks or ignore it. Its pointless trolling and your video does NOT suck.
"This was awesome!" = Just say thanks. Comments that applaud ur work only need a simple thank you.
ANY OTHER COMMENTS ARE POINTLESS.
Now for org.
If org tells you not to use an effect...dont do what they say, but instead approve on that effect until it works better.
"Didnt like the spirals" -- This was a comment i got on fame. Id much rather someone call me a gay mofo who cant do shit in editing than get told to change my choice of effects.
"Your frames per second was off" -- WHO GIVES A DAMN. Seriously...the only real reason anyone would give a fuck about this is if it was being uploaded specifically for a convention. Other than that...if anyone says your fps was off they're fucking with you or are taking this WAY too seriously.
Basically, theres a large division between the two main editing communities. Id like for more people to transfer to the org and learn the basic skills needed to edit like people such as Koopiskeva or shinnie04, or even chiikaboom! But people that dont know enough and still act as though having 1000 subs means you pwn at editing are never going to get anywhere. And if they do....it wont be for several years, i can tell you that.
