first off, i'll say i really liked your video (assuming it's the one for magnus) and while i don't think it was perfect i still really liked it!
that said, please don't rage at someone for leaving their opinion. Your defense is either irrational or makes you out to be somewhat cold, which i'm sure you're not. It's as if you were just obligated to make something for him even though you couldn't make something good, so you just put it out cause...well... yes.
If you really care about the person you're dedicating it to (which i believe you do and felt with your video) then typically, ideally, that would make you want to create the best work you could possibly make. How would you feel if you died and all of your dedications were pieces of shit that people put out because they didn't give a shit about the quality of editing because it was a vent edit. People have that excuse and they use it to not give a shit about how their video is perceived, but if someone important to me were to die and i was going to dedicate a work of art to them, i'm going to make the best goddamn thing i could possibly do for them. Anything anybody could criticize would be creative decisions that they did not like and i would defend them as such, to the bitter end, without sacrificing artistic integrity. Art is supposed to express yourself, your opinions or your emotions, and so wouldn't it make sense if the stronger your emotions were about something then the better art you would produce?
Like i said, i liked the video, it wasn't a "piece of shit" by any means, but if it were then i'd imagine you would still defend it the same exact way.
This is aimed at any editors that do what you just did too, because coming from an emotional community of KH (read: girl) editors where people fake their deaths for attention and everyone believes it and then an onslaught of vent dedication videos comes along and anybody saying the slightest thing of constructive criticism gets flamed to death, i had to deal with a lot of that, so it's not just you,
so please stop using that defense, or at least in the future when you're dedicating videos to people you care about, don't let your emotions cause your art to be worse and instead make those emotions your bitch and use them to put out the best goddamn tribute you can possibly muster, and then you won't need to use that sorry excuse! -
