I wouldn't worry so much about getting in, it obviously wasn't worth it.
If they judged you based solely on biased opinions like you say, then it's probably a good thing you didn't get in, since you hold different viewpoints than the editors.
Honestly, I enjoy the editing of a few editors in Re-Evo, such as Code, Corsair, Replay, and others, so I'm not going to bash the studio, but I disagree with some things that were being said in the comments, like:
"congrats to everyone who got in, you're part of the cool kid's club now."
"That was what this audition was about from the beginning, its what all of them are about, the needs of the studio."
**Though I'm sure the first comment was a joke, it reflects a lot of what I think of studios. They operate like a cult, and try to out-due all the other studios by generating a crap load of amvs. And the main reason why people want to join a studio is so they can say they are part of this popular cult. I am well aware of the fact that not all studios are like this, but the general majority of "lower-class" studios and "elitist" studios are like this. In my opinion.
**And the second comment is just bullshit. The needs? Hahahaha, okaay. Kind of goes in with the first thing. Needs?? What do you really need? Isn't it all about having fun? Studios force you to conform to their laws, it's so cult-ish.
Obviously I am being biased myself, I don't do studios, but this is mainly why: A studio does not encourage diversity or unique separation from other editors. Of course, all the videos are different, everybody edits differently, but as an outsider like me, you see it as an Amv by the Studio, not an Amv by the Editor. And the larger the studio the more this is evident. I can't name a third of the editors in Re-Evo hahahaha.
I understand people like contributing to a uh, greater good, if you can call it that. I'm more independent though.
Of course, these are just my opinions, and have nothing to do with your situation, but your journal entry gave me an excuse to rant on why I dislike studios so much XD
Your entry was very enlightening however, and is a perfect example of why I just don't do studios. I'm sure you know now Re-Evo wasn't the right fit for you, but I hope you find a good studio if that's one of your goals :)
And sorry to anyone who reads this and disagrees, or anyone part of a studio hahaha. I don't mean to offend anyone personally, just my thoughts. -
