It's the army way
2004-09-03 21:48:44
Some know about this, most don't seem to. When soldiers live in barracks(the beautiful accomidations provided to soldiers who can't or don't want to live off post) we have to pull something called CQ. What it stands for, I still don't know. A great crackpot idea where two people stay up for a whole day then get the next day off. And what does this said cq do? There are two positions, The CQ and CQ runner. the CQ is a Sargent or above. They are supposed to be incharge of the runner, under a sargent rank. The runner is the gofee. Together we "protect" the barracks. Yeah, right. Like the two of us sitting at a desk could really stop any real threat. So, instead we help delivery people find the right room, or make sure people sign in from leave on time. I mean god forbid they stay an extra day over the weekend and come back the next morning. Oh, well, at least I was able to beat Metroid Prime during that time.
A while back my car got flooded and the inside carpet soaked. After some "fun" running around with the army's claims people, they tell me that I neded to file with my insurance. Did that. They wanted an estamate on the work. So I take it to the dealer, they tell me they need to replace the carpet. Cost $1,300($560 for the carpet, $175 for the trunk mat, which didn't need to be replaced, and $536 for labor). Anyways, the claims guy gets here to inspect the car. Tells me that all I neededf to do was take it to a detailers and get the carpet power washed. Estamated price, in the $400 range. Go figure.

The way things are
2004-08-22 01:22:09
Have you ever felt just so burnt out of your job you want to go on a killing spree? It's not that I hate the job or that its hard, it's more the repetitiveness at the stupidity of the said customer. I mean I know that Officers are important, but when they think they are more i mportant than the cleck working their file, that they know how the job works and what needs to be done. That is what gets me. I was taught the ropes of this job by Mrs. K(Her full name is german and I can't spell it, anyway we call her this in the office). She is our civilian OIC(Officer in charge) and she has been at this since before they really used computers. Everyone I've worked with says my abilities are second to hers, so when I tell an officer that I can or can't do something, it is that way. Anyway, army SOP states that all customers must follow the rules of the office they are in
Then you have the Officers who think that they are first, no matter who was there before. Story: about a week ago or so, I was at the front going over some papers another customer brought in. He needed them back ASAP so I didn't even take them back to my desk, I just stayed at the little sign in area. Said officer comes in, I can't see him since, one I am reading and correcting things, and two there is a small back to the sign in desk. He waits about a minute or so before he says "Excuse me." I say just "Yes" since I can't see him or his rank(still reading and correcting the papers). He then, in an irate voice says "That's yes, sir!" I look up and apoligize. Not good enough. I worked in this office and there fore must stop all work for him and forget the other customers. Since I was at the front, I must not be working. Said officer could not be helped by me anyway, Mrs. K was the only one that could fix teh problem, Any of you know what a DA 1506 is, I don't really know either.
Other than that it hasn't been that bad of a time. Good movies seen lately: AvsP, Collateral, Godsend, Taking Lives, The Hours, Magdalin Sisters, Nadesico Movie(Just bought it, actually it's the only animated movie I've seen in awhile), and old and seen many times before The Terminator.
Peace out ya'll

Trying
2004-08-09 19:08:54
Well, Friday went better than I expected. It really seemed like he was trying. My sister even agreed he was making his best attenp to get back in our lives. We mainly talked college, and the degree I am going for. Hobbies was another, I think I amazed my stepmom in some of the things I do in my spare time. As well as some of the things I know. My step siblings have changed abit, more so for my step brother. He's reached the phase in one's childhood where you feel indipendent( and he made it there before his older sister). My dad wants me to make sure that my sister goes to college (she will, she just never acts like it), so, so what? I can't even remember where I was going with that. Anyway, I guess I'll give the old bloke some slack and let him in my life alittle.
In other thoughts, I was at this sight that goes through baby name boards and chooses the posts with the worst names, then makes fun of them as well as letting other do so as well. And it got me thinking about something my sister pointed out. One of her teachers did that Chinese baby adoption things and named her Rebecca. Then we were watching Airline on AMC, and a family had done the same thing, including naming her Rebecca. So anyway, I did some more research and found that naming a Chinese adopted girl Rebecca is a standered. Weird huh?
Best of the worst names so far: (girls)Rotunda, heaven starr, summerskies(and any other nature/season name), starlight, sage august, (boys) aniken michael, stads, abeus, hektor.

Disregard the questions
2004-08-04 13:44:43
Having not slept for two days, I was stupid and asked questions in a journal. Ain't I smart.
This may be a good thing that is happening to me Friday or a really bad thing. My dad, who cheated on my mother and then they divorced, is going to be near the base that day and we really haven't talk since '99. My girlfriend says it could be something I need to do before it's too late. My parents divorced way back when, sometime in the '80s, and I did my best to let him be a father. It's just that in recent years I've grown farther than I was when he left. With time and experience comes maturity, so there could be a chance to mend whatever holes there are. But at the same time I worry about how much he is willing to put forth; like for starters, stop being such an ass to my mom.
I speak to him tonight about when I could meet him on friday, I guess in the end I hope it goes well.

What do you think?
2004-08-01 22:58:31
Is it me or does the whole world have something against my driving? Or is it that I'm in the military? If it is the second one then I can understand, I sometimes hate the fact I'm in the Army.
Quick poll, if anyone reads this; Do you want Bush reelected?
My answer is no. I'm not really a democrate, but I just don't want a sexist, racist, homophobic war/oil mangering president to lead the peace in Iraq. I mean yes, Hussan was a dick and needed to leave, but... Never mind, I think I'm too opionated sometimes.
One good thing though, There are probably more Anime lovers in the military than some of you thought. That surprised me, since every unit I've been with has had at least two fans. Only hard part is getting our material.
Second question; Favorite movie of the summer. I need some good ideas to pass the time on base.
Peace out ya'll(sp)
got more work to do.
