The way I see it
2005-04-14 14:05:55
Windows and Mac systems have one thing in common. They want all their users to use the same software they make. The only good part about Macs is that they are willing to let most third parties make useable software for there OS. They make it so the user can run windows on the proper OS, their Ipod works with windows. I know it is a bit random but last night I was going through my music and preparing it so I can put it on the Ipod when it arrives. Media Player copies all music default under WMV so it can't really be used with outher programs, but when importing music into Itunes, iTunes converts the music to Mp3.
Second note, I got back a piece I sent to my friend in Utah and there really wasn't many changes to the scene. A few character changes but I expected that since I don't fully understand the character I wrote under.
Keeping the same subject, after a few changes I think I'll post what I have on my story as a sort of side to the short I already have posted on my site.
I found out that for the units next drill, it will most likely be in Utah. Which is fine, I guess, since I won't have school then. My Det will have to fly out there that Thurs and return on the Monday. Four days of pay ain't bad.
I will have my iPod then so I'm all set.
Not much else since yesterday.
Bye-Bye

Weekend of fun and games
2005-04-13 15:40:43
Updated my site with a short story I wrote for English class back on Active Duty. Got back to school a day late because of my one weekend a month obligation (more below). And slowly trudged along with a chapter of my story.
From Friday last week to Monday I was doing some hardcore 0_o training with my battalion. It all started on Friday around 6:15, when I had to drive to my unit in Aurora. Upon arrival, me and everyone in my detachment(2) proceeded to get out gas masks. Then we went through out army issue gear and got out LBEs and kevlars. Then the other two Dets(1(Utah) and 3(Montana)) stored their personal bags and gear bags in the same supply cage. Then waited an hour till we got our rifles. We then WAITED for over an hour for our late buses to take us to a half ass range at Buckley Air Force base. The range is used primarily for pistols, but since all the ranges at Carson were booked till eternity, it was our only option.
The day was great, cold very windy, and next to a take off point for the fighter jets. So our paper targets, held up by tape and string, were blowing in the wind and flying away till we got enough cardboard to hold then on the strings steady enough to hit. Most qualified, but some can't shoot worth... Anyway I got 34 out of 40, not bad when I was in the first group and the wind bent my target.
After qualification, we waited again for different buses to take us to back to the unit to get our shit to go to Carson. More waiting, then the drive down I-25 then the download into the long Tuff Sheds with bunks and heaters. This was around 2 Saturday morning. and we slept.
Saturday: Breakfest is brought to us. We sit around till 10, then walk/march to a spot near by for some tactical classes. Around 13:30 we put on our gas masks and march back. (Did I mention that my mask was too small for my face) We waited while someone went to open another range where we would be acting out what we learned in the classes, but that fell through when the wind got too strong and the camo nets wouldn't stay up worth crap. The rest of the day was just jerking off and such.
Sunday: We were trapped by the blizzard. I could barely see 100m out into the snow. The wind was around 100mph. The power in one of the Tuff sheds went partially out. Everyone of the guys but six of us moved to the female's shed. While they were there us left, one being the XO(but he slept so we are down to five), went insane. We started to plan our move into becoming a new clan and going over to the other shed, skinning the people and use their skin as clothing. Sick yes, but it passed the time. We also moved tactically to the bathroom and cleared it so we knew it was safe to pee. At some point I named my Rifle "Dita" after the chick in Vandread.
Monday just consisted of getting back to the unit building. Finished turn in of gear and rifles around 19:00 that night
Yeah, so I’m worn out. But from what the XO told us from his experiences I need to buy a Mp3 player and figure out how I’m going to transport my laptop and keep it alive.
Damn that was a long rant.
Well, may all your days never be like these ^_^;

Webtastic
2005-04-06 15:22:57
Been messing with my attempted web page. It is, right now, a place where I rotate music and such. I seem to have less and less time to actually update but I'm trying my best.
Been writing mostly nonsense, but at least I'm writing something, right? I've been thinking of posting what I have finished on the site. Including what I am working on. In all reality, I need a better muse than the randomness of life.
School is fun. but frustrating since I have my Reserve obligation to deal with this weekend. We have a take home quiz in Chem, so that will be FUN. Exam 2 for that class went down the shitter, I had top score in class with a 72. The rest of the class got below 60. So we got to do a fixer and get an average score. So if I got 100 on the redux, then my final grade is a B'ish.
Anyway, best get backto homework and webpage updating.
See ya.

Get er done
2005-03-16 13:10:49
Here I am, in March now. Exams are this week. I just finished my Calc, I think I aced it. Next is my Computing with C, I know I will ace it.
It has been a shitty few weeks, I've gone through everything I've written and I can't make more. Maybe being on Active duty helped me get things down, since I didn't have many things to worry about.
Spring break is next week, My hope is that by doing a bit of exercise and forcing myself to write nonsensical things, I can get back on track with the stories. A small note on that, I feel content with the many rewrites I've done. I know it sounds harsh on myself but I know I can do better. My problem is, I need the insperation to do better. I am having the hardest time finding a new muse, I know I lost the old one( I just don't know what that old one was).
I updated my profile with a webpage I'm working on. In my Intro class the teacher had us make a webpage using the schools server. Everyone in the school has 20meg to work with. I am now attempting to make a page. Most is trial and error. It's nothing special. Mostly I'll just post a different song(s) when ever I update/mess with the page.
My unit now knows more about our deployment to Iraq. I know which Detachment I will be in, and the over all way things should run. We qualify next drill at Buckley Air Force Base. I here the ranges are completely different than the ones at Carson. They even have hand warmers and heaters for the winter. Damn commi bastards ;P Kidding.
What gets me is that I'll finally finish my degree, maybe/hopefully, in 2010 or give a year or two. Whats worse, getting a job that I could passibly come back to after this little field trip^^ will be even harder.
Fun little thing: I got "Flight of the Navigator" a few days ago from Netflix, that was a trip back to childhood. Funny thing is, I still enjoyed it. Same thing with "Ferngully", I watched it on one of the HBOs, I still had fun watching it. Sad, I know. Good movie I saw in theaters was "Sideways", I thought it was well done. Another one was "Hide and Seek", Dakota Fanning did a great job. Speaking of whom, I finally saw "Man on Fire", depressing it was.
When all is said and done, I've got not much else left to do...
Whatever.
Catch you in the next world.
Peace

Engineering
2005-02-19 16:15:41
I'm at school right now talking with the research group for my intro to ENG project. It is an odd experence. We've come up with a basic idea, we are now figering out what resources we need to build the simulator. 5 weeks left for the project. Finished all my first exams, Felt pretty good about them. Though the biggest thing I learned, Nominclature sucks. Ten questions on my Chem exam about it. My mind went blank.
A side note: I'm using my new HD that I got in Dec. The longest a HD has lasted in this laptop. Knock on wood.
