  • Writing 2006-02-22 06:41:44 Who? Salvo lay on his bed staring up at the half lit ceiling. It was early morning, he wasn't sure he had gotten any sleep that night. Who was that? The orange light from the rising sun crept across the ceiling to the wall by his door. I swear I heard it. Someone knocked on his door, "Little brother," Alith called through the door, "Get up. You are going to be late."
Salvo rolled over to look at the door, "Okay." He could hear his brother walk away. He slowly sat up and shook the need for sleep from his head. It was like it was whispered into my ear. He slipped on a pair of pants. And I repeated him. Why? One hand combed through his hair as his other finished buttoning up his shirt. He sat back down on his bed and rolled on some socks. Maybe the stress really is getting to me. He left his room.
The house stood in an awkward silence. Everyone was gone, again. Salvo made his way down the stairs and to the front door; he wasn't hungry, no need to stop off in the kitchen. He put on his shoes and stepped out into the morning air. It was fairly cool, the light breeze from the day before still blew through the grass and bushes. The sky was spotted with yellow and orange colored clouds that moved steadily east. Salvo took a deep breath as he started for the school.
Why do I still go anyway? Knowing it all and what not. You go to be normal. Salvo turned sharply around, nothing. He looked about himself, no one was around. He rubbed his forehead and started to walk again. He stared blankly at the school as it filled his plain of view. Someone stood, leaning against the wall by the entrance; her backpack sat on the ground next to her. She looked up at him as he came closer, her white sun-dress shifted as she stretched. He knew her. She waved to him. Should I wave back? Disregarding the question he continued to walk to the door, "Vermillion?" He dazedly looked at her, "You're late, you know."
"So are you." Salvo returned flatly.
"Ms Seyuki said it was okay for me to wait." The girl pushed off from the wall, "Shall we?" She asked as she grabbed her back pack
