For those who may have misses one of my past entries, I mentioned that my younger brother (goes by the name fallenflip on the org) went off to Marine Boot Camp about two or three weeks ago in San Diego. As far as we know, everything was going well. In fact, we got a letter from him today with him saying how bored he was. I had no idea you could get bored in boot camp. Anyway, I missed most of the next convo because I was napping on the couch again (felt oh so nice) but I heard my step-mom almost in tears. Now you see, my step-mom is a hard ass. It takes a hell of a lot to get her to cry so I knew something was very wrong. As it turns out, there was a problem with my bro. During running or something today, he recieved a stress fracture in BOTH of his shins.
You see, Nick (his real name) is not that active of a person. Sure he skateboards, but I could toast him easily in DDR. When he was trying to make it to boot camp, he had to run a 10 minute mile I believe. Well, he failed the first time, so the Marines had a recrutier come and train him. It was somethign like, run a mile, walk for thirty minutes, then run another mile. How often he did this, I don't know how often he did this, but I have to guess it was a lot since he made the mile the second time. This is what we think caused the fractures. Too much strain on his bones in such a large quantity in such a little time. Plus he had some leg problems when he was a kid as well.
The problem is that he wanted to do this SOOOO fucking much. I mean, he was in tears on the phone today, according to my step-mom. I've never seen him break down so I can only imagine how bad he feels right now. It's not to say he has no chance. He could get recycled and start over again when he heals, but his legs will be more prone to fracturing again then they were now.
Now comes the kicker. His father is apparantly an asshole and he hates Nick. So odds are if Nick is medically discharged, he's gonna get booted out of his house in Texas, meaning, he's gonna be coming up here to live with us. Then comes one other problem, we have no room. But we think my younger sister is about to skip out on us since she hates my family and is... well... doing some bad stuff that makes me sick to even think about (and I'm not talking drugs). But that won't be all that good since the only place she could go is with my biological mother, but my sister wants to cut all ties from her again. So we have no idea what she's gonna do...
This is why I need a fucking vacation. Same type of shit was happening when I took the trip mentioned in my previous entry, but that was involving the divorce and my older sister who always got a kick at making me mad to the point where I almost punch her. *Sigh* Only half a year until I put 2,500 miles between me and all this drama.
God... I could really use that sakura plushie right now... But hey, at least I'm making someone happy, and, well, that makes me feel a little better.

Flying...can krisqo do it?

Two years ago in August I decided out of sheer randomness to take a trip to California. To put things into perspective, I live in a suburb of Philadelpia Pennsylvania so that's traveling clear across the map for the sake of doing so. But that's not the whole story. As the title above alludes to, I am scared to death of taking a plane. Sure its considered the safest form of travel, but the though of being in a 500MPH vertical dive into a random cornfield in Nebraska is not something I would like to be involved in. So I did what any right minded person would do, take the train. Great Idea (Insert Sarcasm)
The first leg from Philadelphia down to Washington and then up to Chicago was relativly smooth, though I had a major headache since I was stupid and didn't eat or drink anything for twelve hours and it's hard to sleep in those seats, especially when you have someone sitting next to you (random person. I went alone). In the end, we were only one hour late getting into the windy city. I had to sit in Union Station for about two hours before the "California Zephyr" boarded. We left Chicago at about 3:30PM. I will say this, those Superliner Cars are much nicer then those shitty standard AMTRAK cars. Plus I got two seats to myself which made sleeping easier, except for a metal piece sitting between the two seats.
I was on the Zephyr for three days. Now the plan was to get to Emeryville, California at about 4 PM, 72 hours after leaving Chicago. Well, the damn Union Pacific was freaking backed up and it took us three hours to get out of the Sierra Navadas and into Sacramento. From there, the train followed San Fransisco Bay past a long view of the Golden Gate Bride (I looked about two inches long from the train) until we FIANLLY pulled into Emeryville Station three hours late at 7 PM.
I only stayed for a whole day since I had just over a week for this trip. I hopped the same train back to Chicago at 9am and all was goin really well, except that we were detoured through Wyoming instad of through the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. If you have never been to Wyoming, you're not missing much. It sucked. We got to Denver after nighfall on the second day. I was worred about getting to Chicago late because I only had two hours to play with before my train to Washington was supposed to leave. Luckily, the conductor made an announcemnt saying that we were likely to make all connections in Chicago so I fell asleep easily.
The next morning, I woke up in some state. I figured it was the outskirts of Nebraska and we were close to Iowa. But after a few hours, I heard the announcment that we were within two hours of LINCOLN! WTF!?!?!? I didn't even see Nebraska on the westbound trip. Apparently there was a lot of freight traffic that severly delayed us through Colorado and now we ran 4 HOUR LATE!!! To make a long story short, I missed my damn train and and was shuffeled onto the Lakeshore Limited which follows the Great Lakes up into Buffalo and then down to NYC. That trip was okay, though I was still worried how I was gonna get back to Philly since my other ticket was for a Reginal train from Washington to Philadelphia. Luckily, I was directed to customer service and they put me on a 5:05 train to Philly, and this was at 5:02! *Sigh* So I had to run through Union Station trying to find the gate to my train. Thank god I got on just minutes before it pulled out. An hour and a half later, I was back at 30th Street and on my way home.
So what relevance does this all have now? Well, for reasons that shall not be mentioned in this journal, unless i mark it private, I am planning on heading back to California this year. Mostly because things are going to get hectic for me the next year so I figured to have some fun this summer, but more of a personal trip. I'm already working on Anime Weekend Atlanta, I just need to find a roomate. But I don't feel like having only one day to screw around in California like the last trip and I doubt I could get two weeks in a row off from work. So I'm gonna fly... oh boy. The same goes for AWA. A train does go into Atlanta, but it would take a whole day and I'll be in school at that time and If I want to spend a few days there, I would need to miss two days and I am only allowed three misses. But a plane would take only 2 hours. Best choice. Same for California. Four days is cut down to only 4 hours and with the time differenct, it will only register as one.
But still, I'm gonna be grinding my seat out of terror that entire four hour trip. I know it will be worth it in the end, but I just hope anyone sitting next to me can handle a wide eyed, foaming at the mouth petrified with fear passenger sitting next to them. I just have to remember, the end result will be worth it. I hope.

AMV HELL 4???

I just wonder why? Meh... I hope it comes out great. I have an Idea I got from people talking on a dead MEP Idea thread that I think could be pretty damn funny. I just hate that 30 second limit. GAH!!! At least the song is only 1:08.
Anywho, sleepyness is gone. My boss was nice enough to buy me a french vanilla cappachino(sp) when he got in so I was hyper for the day. Too bad work was dead as hell. Got home on time for once and after a nice 3 hour nap, I feel pretty refreshed. So until Yeiweh is done downloading and catching up on her other crap, I guess I should try to finish Katie's video. Only a week left.

Nearing 1K!!!
2006-11-26 01:49:01
It seems like just yesterday thay my journal only had 40 hits, now it's at 899 as of the time I'm typing. Just got back from a grueling $10 buy in poker game. As usual, the game never ended because my best friend and his girlfriend were being too luvvy duvvy and doing some other odd shit that just pisses me off to the point where I crank my headphones up to the max and blare someting like DDR music or E-Rotic. I did shut them up when they actually heard some impromptune moaning coming from some of the songs... I just laughed and got back to the game.
IN the end, I played very conservativly, only going in the hands that I knew I had a fighting chance, and my Ex G/F was playing in since she had no idea what she was doing. Though she did make a run for about three hands before loosing $4 in the end. I ended up with nearly double winning $19. We've been playing these games on and off for about two years now and I never was the money leader when we quit before. So staying up late was well worth it.
To DQY;
Tired because work was out of coffee when I got in. I hate coming in at 8am instead of 6am. At least at 6 I know there will be a nice hot pot of Folgers Premium blend coffee with a container of International Delights French Vanilla cream. Speaking of french vanilla, damn WAWA's coffee machien was broken tonight!! So I had to settle for eggnog. Love my noggie! I'm a partial night owl myself. I've stayed up until 2:30am drinking beer and playing cards with my stepmom, little sister, and stepbrother just because we could not sleep (hence the going to work with a hangover ^-^;;; Perental supervised underage drinking = FUN) Sleep is for squares! As long as I get coffee, I can function. So I'm good. Hell I came home and started working more on Katie's Christmas project. (I get the strange feeling I'm the only one putting any real effort into my clip O_O).
And now for a song! "I am cow, hear me moo, I weigh twice as much as you, and I look good on the barbeque." Damn I can't get it out of my freaking head!!!
"I am cow eating grass, methane gass comes out my ass, and out my muzzel when I belch!" That with the constant christmas music! @_@ HELP!!!
