  • Enjoyable Week 2006-07-31 08:43:27 Last week I experienced my first enjoyable camp in the military. I even got to drive quite a lot. Sure it was hot as hell at times and our clothes all wet, but overall our team-spirit was superb and the group leaders did a good job. We even got a free holiday for having such a good attitude for the whole week out there.
  • Something Different 2006-07-02 13:12:38 I proclaim this vacation to be more succesful than the last one! This time I actually ended up doing something else besides stay inside all day. I have to thank an aquintance from the military for it, because he's the one who suggested we'd do something. Getting away from the military, even for a while, is always an event worth celebrating anyway. Not that it would be a horrible place of torture, but it's not exactly what I'd imagine anyone to enjoy doing for a job.

Not many know this, but I'm an old fan of console RPGs. To be honest I think I've played pretty much every "golden" RPG there is. Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire, Vandal Hearts and Grandia just to mention a few titles, that I've enjoyed playing passionately. Now, those are all very old titles that I mentioned and the reason is that modern RPGs don't offer the same kind of quality in them. I'm relatively unknown of any RPG released after 2004. I test a lot of modern RPGs, but most of them just plain suck compared to what I have played in the past. There are exceptions of course, but finding them is a bit more tricky. That's why I'm really glad to have found an RPG that I enjoy playing.

That game being - La Pucelle Tactics, which appeals to me in many ways. I'd love to go into detail about what makes it worth my time, but that would require an essay's worth of text. Maybe another time. :p

Next couple of weeks might get a bit tough at the military. In the worst case we'll be locked there for three whole weeks...
  • Midsummer Day 2006-06-24 14:44:37 Huh, so it's Midsummer day and what am I doing?

I've been inside all day watching anime and occasionally chatted with a few persons. Sometimes I feel like I really should get a life. At least two people I know are probably on their summer cottages doing all kinds of stuff, while I'm stuck here at home by my own choice. My "plan" was to go out and visit a few bars, but the weather was just so horrible. Well, at least I can temporarily blame the army for staying home at a time like this, but really, that just screams out for lazyness.

Then what should I be doing? Maybe go for a swim, watch a movie, take a walk, go shopping or something. I can actually come up with numerous things to do, but it's no fun alone, nor when you're actively in the army. Being there passivates even more than I originally am. All this makes me remember a certain someone, who once affected this passiveness of mine. Maybe I just need someone to give that little push to put me into motion? Who knows but now is an inconvenient life phase to be troubled by it.

Great, another big issue to tackle once my time is served. My list of things to-do is growing bigger and bigger.
  • Counting the Mornings 2006-06-04 10:47:50 Let's see, 33 mornings left untill II/05(362) and I/06(180) become reservists. After that it is easy military life for me... can't wait for it...
  • Greeting the Gentle Summer Breeze 2006-05-25 08:46:05 Time really does fly here in the army. Not so long ago the land was covered in snow, but now the sun shines and a warm summer breeze travels our barracks. As the weather has changed, so has many other things. Our clothing for example has become lighter, which is a small-big thing considering the comfort of wearing the greens. No more teddy undersuit or snowoveralls, the clothes I found the most annoying to wear. Four layers of clothing makes you surprising clumsy, when it comes to marching or throwing yourself on the ground for cover.

Hm, only 43 days left and the first batch of our arrival group are sent back home as reservists. Everyone is really looking forward to it, and since the last few weeks include nothing but taking it easy, the time will go by twice as fast for them. I still have 133 mornings ahead of me, but things will soon change as the old corporals (squad leaders) are going home as well, and we become senior jaegers.

I have to admit that I'm actually looking forward to seeing the new privates, who are enlisted shortly.
