- Technology sucks 2003-01-20 04:18:10 Well it does. I mean sure it can do cool things, but only if you understand apsilutly EVERYTHING about it. I mean just look at AMV's right? So much unnessisary crap like the quality issue. People spend more time messing with quality then they do actually working on the video. I guess people think that is there video has good quality it won't matter if it sucks or something like that. Hell even I am quilty of being a quality hog. I have a perfectly good capture card that caps damn near the quality you get from DVD ripping, but there is a war going on in my head about which to use. I think everyone needs to take a step away from the tech end of it all and take a closer look at the artistic side. The great creators, the people who make the most memorable videos are not the best because they mess with quality and tech issues like that (well not most of them, there are a few out there). They are good because they pay attention to there artistic side. What the hell is the point of wasting a month or two making a video if you are sweating the small stuff like quality the entire time. Have fun in what you are doing. While you are working on your next vid, or even your current one for that matter, every now and then stop and ask yourself, "Am I having fun doing this? Am I enjoying myself? Or am I just doing it to get cred?".

WESTWARE 1.0 Skin

Well I finally took the time to go throught and make a skin for the site bassed of the color scheme from ym website http://westware.8m.com
I spent 7 hours going throught by hand finding out what color code effected what item, and after many beta versions I think I have come to an exceptable skin.
There still seems to be 2 or three minor flaws with it like the text for the contest list and site to do list are rather light colored. But has I made them any darker, you would not be able to read any other text on other pages use to the BG color. Also I don't really like the way the vid search page looks, but once again, if I change one element to fix that page, it will effect every other page also.
Man I've been up all night, it's 6:30 am here, and I have to go do some work today. I hope I don't fall asleep griving, lol. Jk. I'll be cool. -
The Daedalus Project (continued.)

Work on my top secret AMV for Otakon, aptly named "Project: Daedalus" is going along as planned. Though I have to admit, I ran into a set back or two while attempting to use effects I have never used before, but still everything is comming together fine.
I will be off of work Mon through Wed, so you can just guess what I'll be doing those three days. After running partialy compleated test showings on test subjects, I have come to the conclusion that I am on the right track. All subjects show signs of pleasure (unfortunatly I can not divulge the emotion in question as it would give away the catagory in which I intend on compeating).
If the information is correct. Then "Westware" will be known to a vast number of Otaku come summer 2003. -
The Daedalus Project

I have finaly begun work on what I home will be my most memorable AMV to date. And since my first (and only) two AMV's suck @ss, this new idea is sure to please.
This new AMV project, code named "Daedalus", will be the calmination of months of self education within the artform known as "AMV". This video will also serve as the Flag Ship to carry my Studios name "Westware" into battle. Before this video I did not feal my videos deserved to be called works of "westware". But his my friend will not be just and other video. It wll be a plethora of the sences!
I can not give out details at this time as I have enemies that would like nothing more but to steal my idea for themselves. Infact. I am being so secretive that I am not even revealing information about it to any of my friends. I have encountered random people at cons and presented them with a scenario, and asked weather they likes the scenario or not. My conclusion is that I have a very good idea here.
What I can say, is that with any luck, I should have the video finished in time for Otakon 2003 (my home con). I don't think I will win any contests with this idea, but if everything goes correctly I am hoping to be one of the AMV's that make it into the actuall contest. But I digress because that is a long way off. I currently only have 20 seconds of the video done, and have an estimated 2 months of work ahead of me.

Well I finally have my Otaku Plus store thingy up and rinning

The idea hit me while I was playing around with my Pimp-vangelion movie (well, watching it anyway). And I thought, wouldent it be cool if I could get some cloths and crap make with the Pimp Gendo character on them. One thing led to another and now I have an entire store! All kinds of crap like cloths, mugs, a nice looking poster. What I really like is my "Brian Auxer" line. It features the picture of this confused looking kid who actually quit his job so he can go to nekocon with me. I am kinda curious what it will be like when he finds out about the shirts with his face on them, lol!
