"And if a double-decker bus crashes into us/ to die by your side is such a heavenly way to die"

In case you haven't noticed by todays lyrics, I've been listening to The Smiths today.
I want floppy hair.
"I would go out tonight... but I haven't got a stitch to wear"
*camps it up around his room*
I actually thought of a very silly Di Gi Charat video for The Smiths song Heaven knows I'm misrable now.
"I was looking for a job and then I found a job
And heaven knows I'm miserable now" etc....
Either DGC or Megatokyo :P
Turboneko: I'm glad you like IWIWAL too... it's going to be lots of fun and, as EK would say, WRONG. I've also been thinking on the whole collaboration idea again and I think it might be an idea for us to find a musical common ground. So, if you can come up with your 10 desert island discs or something, then I might be able to get an idea of what kind of stuff we could collaborate on.
I think it would be easier to assosiate by music than by anime. Let me know.
I'll keep thinking about that vid idea we came up with before... it has potential but it would be difficult. We'll see.

"Now I know how Joan of Arc felt/ as flames rose to her Roman nose/ and her walkman started to melt"

Well, it's good to be back.
I really felt for Phade yesterday when the database problem happened and the website forum was lost and the tables corrupted. He's doing such a great job with this website, I hope everything's going to be ok from now on.
Acen sounded like a lot of stress for the organisers and the amv makers alike. Man, that must have been hell. It's good to see that there are dedicated people like Quu working themselves silly to do the impossible. It may have been less than perfect, but it could have been a lot worse.
Here's to the valiant. *raises glass*
So, what's been going on in the world of AD you may ask... Well, it was my birthday on Tuesday. 23. I'm officially not young.
I haven't been doing much on my amvs but I do have an absolute stonker planned. IWIWAL is the codename, and the people I've played the song to have seen straight away that it would be great for an amv. So, it looks like it will probably be two comedy amvs for me this summer. :D
Just finished reading the EK's finished ACen report. It sounded like lots of fun. I'm really looking forward to getting to a US con - I'm determined to get to AWA one way or another. See you guys there :P

"Santa Claus does not exist and there's no Easter bunny/ You'll find out when you grow up that Big Bird isn't funny-funny-FUNNY/ Ahahahahahaha"

Thanks dokidoki, that was a laugh. Simple yet satisfying.
Good old comedy amvs. I'm going to do one, you know. Yep, a classic comedy song amv. I'd thought about the song before but for some resaon I completely forgot about it until I saw Tim's Dennis Leary goodness. I'm not going to give the song away but it is perfect for a comedy amv.
The only problem is probably going to be the amount of footage as it would have to be a various video. I could probably just use what I have already but it could possibly benefit from a larger variety. I dunno, what do you guys think? If you've made a various anime video before did you spend a lot of time hunting down extra stuff or did you just make do with what you had?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to this video.. it being, well, WRONG.

"Everybody want's to know/ What makes a man feel so blue/ Oh they call me Mr. Pitiful/ Since I lost someone just like you"

Bowler: just call me Mr Unoriginal :P
It always happens. I have a great idea for a game then I find out that someone else is doing it.
Last year I had an idea for a Looking Glass Studios-style game that would have a similar feel to thief and system shock 2. The premise is that you are dead... or at least, you are a ghost.
You've been killed but you have some unfinished business and you have to manipulate objects, people and so on in order to uncover the plot which was the cause of your death. It's not that simple though - there are problems.
1) No-one can see you... you have to learn how to be able to manipulate object in the world of the living from simple poletgeistism to full possesion.
2) Your enemies are more than they seem and they have the ability to see you, hurt you and they have sent afterlife minions out to stop you.
You can kinda fill in the blanks yourself. I thought it would be an interesting idea for a pretty engrossing single player game and apparently someone else thinks so too - I read a short press release in a pc magaizine that talked about a studio doing a game based around this idea.
I'm not sure how the plot would unfold or exactly how the gameplay would work but I think the idea is a good basis for an interesting game.... but, yes, someone else is going to end up doing it.

"War?... HUH... Good-god y'all... What is it good for? Absolutely NOTHIN'! Say it again!"

I just had an idea for a game. It's not the first time - the first idea I had for a computer game looks like it's actually going to be made, so I must be ok at this sort of thing.
Obviously I should sell the ideas but I'm just not a businessman.
OK, the idea is pretty simple:
Full-scale real-time online warfare using an fps. A MMOFPS, if you like.
It's it would be a mulitplayer online FPS that would have two game stages. Stage one would be various scenario based multiplayer team games that attempt to recreate aspects of warfare, much like has already been acheived in many game in the past. This isn't in any way innovative but it is an important step in preparation for stage two of the game.
The team games in stage one are all played as training with the knowledge that in stage two a map pack would be released that would reveal the game's full potential as an actual real-time online war simulation where teams allied to particular sides will fight each other for the occupation of territories in a large variety of map types. Over the weeks, the game would progress like with all warfare depending on the victories and losses and the environments would change to match. All of this can be overviewed on the net by the internet public as they see how the war progresses.
There would be several game types. Most of the would be assault-style games but there would also be strategic games in which teams would have to, for instance, sabotage something or break out of a prisoner of war camp. These strategic missions can, for example, effect the amount of weapons the enemies can use and so on just like a normal war so can tip the balance.
"clans" will obviously be able to register squadrons who can put their name to areas in order to gain higher ranks but these areas must be defended by the squadron in a pre-arranged match that will occur within a 48 hour period if the enemy is in a position to attack - which could make for some interesting stuff.
Anyway, you get the idea. It would be a massive task and the development would be serious stuff but the advertising revenues could be very profitable ^_^ I could imagine squadrons chatting on irc planning which available areas to attack.
Yeah, that's my game idea. If someone sells it then go ahead but at least I'll be able to say I thought of it and wrote it here ^_^
