    This guy is one BONKERS artist.

    I mean seriously - this guy designs the strangest machines I've ever seen and has cute girls riding them.

    I love the one in the profile (and the others like it) because of the really bizarre mix of Ghibli influences. It's like ghibli stuff that's been taken to bits and put back in the wrong order - with Gainax-style girl mecha pilots.

    The artist is called Nuclear Warhead and he's a 30 year old engineer and artist from Kanagawa in Japan. I found his site when he did some fanart for the Top Page Illustration on the Gainax website and after checking out some of his post '98 work I got addicted to his bizarre design. For example:

    OK, if anyone hasn't seen my very rare FLCL image that's in my profile then go and look at it today because I'll be putting on a new Profile Image of the Week tomorrow.

    As for my thoughts on AX... well I'm still not sure. Castor Troy sugessted that SRV could have been disqualified for content, which I'm guessing is a possibility and would explain why I'm in the extended list. Oh well, who knows eh? All I want is for it to be shown, so I guess AWA is the con for me!

     
  • 2002-07-02 10:14:30 Well.. I felt very miserable this morning, but now I'm not sure what to feel.


    See, I entered Shameless Rock Video into AX and we were all waiting for the results of the finalists in an AIM chatroom and I spoke to Digital Panther. He confirmed that it was shown and that there was much talking about it. He thought it ruled and was convinced it was going to go through.

    Anyway Brian came in to announce the results. My vid wasn't there. :/ I wasn't expecting it to win but I was really hoping it would get into the final 10 of one of the categories but it didn't.

    So anyway I moped around a lot and felt sorry for myself and then this email was sent out to the amv mailing list. It conifrmed the winners again but this time it said this underneath:

    "Also we the co-coordinators would like to make sure the following
    individuals either are present or that their proxies are present:


    Ian Roberts
    Jason Fritzman
    Tom Smith
    Dan Kent
    Katie Sayre"


    Which made me think.... um... why?

    Why would they want me or my proxy there when I didn't even make the final 10?

    I'm not sure what to read into that at all... so my emotions are just, well, confused to be honest. Oh well. I know I havent got into the finals so I'm not expecting anything else. Maybe it will do better at AWA.

    Congratulations to those who have got through - I was really happy to see some people had made the list. I feel sorry for ErMaC, though, as none of his 3 vids made it (one was disqualified for content which I think was really harsh). Anyway, all's fair in love and war etc etc. It should be a fun contest even without SRV so I hope everyone there has a great time.
