Something Heavy Is Weighing On My Mind. Discussing Something Serious.
2013-03-10 07:15:17
I've recently come to an empass with my AMV's. And myself as an editor. I've been thinking a lot lately about why I still edit even though I now consider it a burden sometimes.
The answer I came up with isn't surprising, but somehow infuriates me.
I love to make AMV's. I love to better myself at the craft of editing. Yet recently, as has been the trend with my few latest AMV's, I have been getting worse.
I started strong when I joined the site many years ago. Improving video after video, and with noticeable.....VERY noticeable improvement.
But lately it seems like I've hit a wall. As is evident by my Sugar Rush City, Amp It Up and -Ephixa- AMV's. Before these, The Best improved video I made all year was at the end of 2012 and as good as Interstellar Duo was in the improvement department, since then, I've done nothing but use the same techniques I used in that video in newer ones I've put out since. Albeit the techniques were improved, but added nothing to the videos.
I fear my editing days shall come to an end soon should I find that I can't bypass this severe case of editors block I've come across.
And it isn't editors block in the sense that I can't edit, but the block that may effect future videos. And that would be the Pinnacle of my editing skill block. Like a "Is this all I can do?" type of thing.
It hurts to say all this, but I gotta let go of my editors pride. It's doing more harm than good now. And while I have long established the fact that I am good with the software I am using in the videos and that I know my way around effects, it does little to curb my contempt at my current situation.
I fear my Closed Curtain Encore video, which is a sequel to Encore (Which is perhaps my greatest achievement in terms of improvement), will suffer the hardest yet.
Encore gave me the confidence that I could improve. There was literally so much improvement in that video, that it was noticeable from my past work. And I was damn proud. But you would have to watch all my earlier videos before that to even know what I'm talking about.
Anywho, I needed to get this off my chest. I'm scared that I'm at my peak. But I want to keep improving, but don't know how.
Thanks for reading this far if you have. I'm off to bed to brood :(
G'night

2013-02-28 10:34:01
Well, with all of the awesome goodness we got from anime last year, I have to say that it was an awesome year for anime.
It seems this year is going to start out strong with a title I've been keeping an eye on Since SAO ended.
Date A Live デート・ア・ライブ
This looks rather promising and is released on April 5th. Needless to say I"m excited about this one.
What are your thoughts?

Had a big scare today
2013-02-10 01:15:45
Over the past 3 months I've really been into the custominzing of my Camaro.
No, it's not the new fancy Camaro, it's a 1998 Camaro with a 172,000 Miles on it. It started out with 168K, thats just how much I've driven since I got it.
Anywho, I've put custom Tail-lights, Custom Exhaust Pipes, a New Flowmaster Muffler, compeltely fixed the interior lighting made the undee-the-hood parts such as the engine and other parts visible from raising the hood sparkle. And I am putting on a new Alternator tomorrow.
However, today I had a huge scare. Was driving out on a delivery, Nothing out of the ordinary on the way there and back. However, it wasn't until I left on my next delivery that I felt something was amiss with my car.
I heard this weird knocking sound and had a wierd vibration coming form the back.
So I pulled over at a gas station that had some light and looked at the back.
ONE OF MY NEW FUCKING CUSTOM EXHAUST PIPES FELL OFF SOMEWHERE!
Needless to say, I was pissed off the rest of the day.
So I got a copy of all the reciepts so I could retrace my steps and hopefully find my pipe. I hadn't taken too many deliveries. Roughly 12. So I didn't have much to retrace.
I got off work and prayed to god someone didn't find it and pick it up and take it home. I checked all the areas and had 2 left to check. I was starting to lose hope.
Next one I checked, my friend leaned out the window and said: "THERE IT IS!" and I"ll be damned if it wasn't laying on the side of the road in the dirt. I didn't spot it at first cause the shinyness of it meshed with the color pallette of the dirt and road, so we didn't seee it till my headlights hit it. It was wet and rainy and dark as an FYI and 9:00 at night.
Needles to say, I was happy I found it. Now I don't have to worry about having to drop another 100 Bucks to have another custom one made.
I had it put back on tonight and all is good.
