Mentri canta la lupara / No Crogna grida e mori
Chista leggi dura e amara / Al' infami spacca o cori

Picture if you will the above lines sung by an old man in a chair, on the porch of an Italian villa, possibly to a circle of young children. A gentle and relaxing song.
Well, untill you translate the lyrics that is.
"while the shotgun sings the traitor screams and dies.
This hard and bitter law splits the traitors heart.

Thus begins my new video project.
We'll see how well it works.

Get used to running. A lot. And then more running.
Try to focus on calisthenics and endurance stuff, like being able to do a hundred push ups, lots of pull ups. If you can squat down, thrust out your legs, do a push up, reverse and reapeat a whole assload of times (like 50-100) then you should be doing ok.
Start what what you can do, and try to always add more to the next session.
Motly what you'll discover that the ability to NEVER EVER give up will do you more good than anything else. Being in good shape physically won't fix that, but it'll sure make things simpler.
Good luck

gack, rough day at work, several fights... one between a bunch of gang members, another between a parent and a kid, and a third between a teacher and a kid. Arguments between everybody. Is there something in the water that I don't know about?

from worse to bad is still an improvement.

The bad news.
All week (yes I know it's only tuesday) and the last few weeks the power in my building has been cutting out at work. Brownouts... surges... and breaker pops. On monday I actually kept track and discovered that the power went completely out in the computer room 11 times. Eleven.
This isn't really 'good' for computers. Finally today, while I'm desperately trying to finish up some logistics for the next semester (I have to plan transportation for 80 students, and the drivers to do it... maps the whole enchillada. ) My computer goes out again. No just out... I'm talking Blue Screen of Death here. I can't do nothin. No restores... no system recovery disk... not nothin.
For the first time, in my entire 8 years of teaching at this school I actually sent my entire class outside to the PE quad and started throwing things. Months of work.. YEARS of lesson plans... an inhuman amount of effort and tinkering with programs to set up secure networks, and network bridges.
Gone.
I was unhappy for the rest of the day. People sort of stayed away from me.
---------------------------
On the positive side of things, my wife finally caught the cold that I've had for about a week now. Now she'll stop trying to convince me it's just allergies.
Ok... maybe that's no too positive, but it's a step right?

Aha! Finally caught the ShinoDude
2006-02-07 22:40:33
I've finally figured it out. The big mystery.
I know who has been writing all that spam that I see in E-mail all the time.
It's Shinodude.
Seriously, just think about it. It's that earnest yet incoherent style, it just screams "thaing traking my oboe peepee-el".
Who else could write topics like:
An begin depreviation
attendee haverdashery psyche
amulet schelling billard
recitave stiffen sammy
charcoal vitrato
by know undertaking
and one of my favorites...
quadric satin excelsior checkmate siegmund dastard.
** note ** it might not be him, but you gotta love the stupid subject titles that they get to avoid spam filters these days. I get about 80-100 spam a day that gets automatically deleted, and about 15-20 a day make it past the filters. One of the dangers of working where I do I guess.

sometimes, when you win, you get a bonus. Sometimes, you don't want it.

At work I'm sittin' at my desk doing something either boring, or important. Essentially they usually coincide anyway, and I look over at my second monitor. I see that my blocked sites number is going up.
wait... I should explain for a few seconds first: I have a couple networks at school that I have to monitor. All of the computers on my networks have assigned addresses and they all flow through a proxy (on my computer) to access the internet. Normally, I just keep a small window open so that I can see the numbers of sites blocked by the filters, or if a virus has been detected. I can however connect to any computer on the network using a backdoor program that lets me monitor their desktop, and take over their computer if I need to. I really, really hate doing that, since it goes against everything that I believe in, in terms of privacy.
Anyway...
So I look over and I see the blocked sites list is growing, and expand it up to see the raw data (reads like address information, and usually is just on screen long enough to get a gist, like if it's a google image search, or a myspace thing.). He's looking up gang stuff. That bastard. So I open up the remote desktop tool and pop a little text message onto his screen: "keep it school appropriate". All the activity stops on that computer for a few minutes and then it's right back to the same. So I pull that computers internet access, and let it get my nice little "you shall not pass" gandalf warning.
About ten minutes later I look at the remote desktop, and see that he's changed the background to a little 'paint' picture.
"fuk you brien" it reads (bad spelling and all).
