  • riiiight. 2006-03-02 22:34:46 I'm looking at a box of Kleenex right now. The box says that they are antiviral.
How the hell can kleenex be anti-viral? Actually, I guess that they could be toxic and all... but I still fail to see how that could possibly help me. I mean, by the time I've used the kleenex, all that nasty stuff is outside of my body; now harmless to me.

Am I supposed to eat them?
Shove whole wads of kleenex up my nose when I'm healthy to pre-empt getting sick?

Apparently it's for your hands. IE: for people that sneeze into their hands and then touch you. yuck.

Some poseur had already used the MadBunny moniker.. bastard.
For those who have the slightest bit of curiosity; Tomokato is a fictional character form a series of increasingly outrageous childrens stories featuring the adventures of "Samurai Cat: Miaowara Tomokato". Obviously I recomend it.

  • Isn't it odd the things that you remember for no reason? 2006-02-24 00:33:55 For some stupid reason I remembered a concert that I worked at a while back. I was stuck in a cart at the end of the event and occasionally helping people to their cars and breaking up the fight here and there. I was called up to the gate and given a pair of obviously drunk girls to take back to their car.

I guess they were kind of cute, but honestly I'd been workng since 5am, and it was 2Am the next night and I was ready to end it all. So I'm driving them to their car in this funky little golf cart. It doesn't go very fast; you could outrun it pretty easily. Better than walking I guess. And they can't remember where the hell they parked. The whole time these girls are hitting on me. At one point one of them reached inbetween my legs, apparently thinking that I was gonna stop in the middle of the parking lot during the exit of a massive concert and give them action, or something. Eventually I had to boot her to the back of the cart (the little seats that face backwards, where you have to hang on or it feels like you'll go flying off. and keep looking. The girls wouldn't accept that I was married. "so you're married" they'd ask, as if the answer might have changed in the last two minutes. "yes", I'd reply "for years now". They would think on it for a moment and eventually come up with something to the tune of "but are you HAPPILY married?".

Yes, I am, happily married in case anybody was wondering.

Eventually I got them to their car, which was in the most distant part of the parking lot, away from anybody, even the other cars seemed to be missing. Waited while they fumbled out their keys, and declined various offers of drinks and er... suggestions, and headed back.

I hope they made it home ok.

  • Densha Otoko 2006-02-19 03:03:12 I watched Densha Otoko with my wife today.

I'm such a sucker for romantic dramas like that, but usually she hates them for whatever reason. Anyway, now that I've finished it, the show has left a pleasant after image in my mind.

Anyway, I really liked it a lot, so go find a copy on the 'net somewhere and download it. It's Live action J-Drama. Look in the usual places like Animesuki. You won't be dissapointed.
  • 2006-02-17 01:57:44 "I can do that!"

One of the things about being a teacher, other than the low pay, abusive parents, overwhelming workload and bratty children that people don't really realize is... it's rewarding.

Where am I going with this? Well, I guess the thing is that when I get frustrated at work, because I'm surrounded by screaming assholes who bully, vandalize and play their gang games I tend to forget that those are not the people that matter. The ones that matter are the ones that want to learn, the ones that feel an overwhelming desire to create and explore their own minds. I have students that walk in to school, early even though they have rides, just so that they can spend and hour and a half or so making AMV's in the morning. Kids that don't have computers at home, they can't afford to buy fancy shoes or gadgety cellphones. I have students that come in, and after YEARS of hating school; learn that in my class, they can watch their favorite episodes of Naruto, or Fruits Baskets and nobody will bother them. School isn't some place the are forced to go to (although, it's not like the really have a choice) it's a place they want to be. Sometimes they learn that learning isn't about being able to copy names and dates from a list, it's about being curious.

Did *I* change anybody's life? No, I just made them look in the mirror and find something they liked. If they learn something along the way, thats all to the better.
