Well having gotten over my little tantrum there, I found that if I keep my current video pack, and get premiere only off amazon it's still cheaper than buying AE and Premiere separately.
Oh, and having lost a bet the terms of which shall never be named. I'm now working on Dragonball Z video.
I've managed to pick a song that absolutely no one on the org has used to DBZ. PM me if you read this and actually care.
I'll tell you one thing, those guys that make DBZ videos with top quality are working their ass off. The Broly: super saiyan disk that came in the mail of mega crappy quality. All the filters and whatnot actually slowed my computer down to about 27 FPS in vdub to make the avi file.
What else.. oh, it looks like my goal of doing 100 opinions over the break isn't going to work out, since I've only gotten up to 67 . I still have a few BETAs to do that people have started sending me for nitpicks before some con somewhere. Out of the five that I saw, three of them kick serious ass.
Gack. Today was the last official day of my time off. (weekends don't count since you know.. .you get those anyway). I actually went in to work during the break thinking I'm going to clean up the school comptuters and tune the network a bit. Not easy since I don't have full access to all the computers normally. I found almost 50 viruses floating around in the system. CRAP! Most of them were your run of the mill browser hijacker and BHO type deals. I fucking hate undeletable virus files. The antivirus can detect these bastards, but won't delete them since they've insinuated themselves in to the system files. On top of that some of the new shit like 'hotbar' will reinstall itself. Basically since you agree to put it on your system via clicking on the pop up you agree to let them do all sorts of shit. So now I'm going to have to tell everyone to back up their junk next week (I'll scan the backup folders to be safe) and reformat all over the place.

I sit down today, delete all my video editing programs, since I have the new digital video pack from adobe.
Pop in the new premiere pro disk... "this operating system is not supported, installer will now exit"
They sent me the wrong goddam bundle. Now I have to return it to the school, and get the new stuff. Thing is, when I ordered it via my budget, it WAS the correct version. Goddam slow ass accountants.
crap. crap. Now I'm not going to be able to get all my new lessons, and screen captures all set up for the next year. Plus this throws off my whole planned cycle. Fuuuuuck!
On top of that, my Inuyasha model is sucking ass in lightwave too. His goddam nose... if you model it the way it looks from any one angle, it looks like ass from any other angle. I'm thinking it's going to have to be a texture related solution.
If anybody actually reads these things, and knows of a decent maquette, or 3D model of Inuyasha, or Sessoumaru PM me and let me know.
Plus, do you even know how hard it is to keyframe a michael jackson dance routine? I'm tempted to blow even more of my savings on a motion capture rig just to solve it.

Parents and the school principal -VS- Excel saga, Hunter D and naked bodies

Okay... so it's a friday, and it's the last day before spring break. I've been on allergy medications for like 3 weeks now, and had decided to just push through the last.
So I'm in my room, half the school is getting ready for a beach field trip, and I've got my class in there, some are working on videos, two are doing some racing game... one is working in poser 5 me, I'm not really caring. I just want to go home, but you know it's like... 6:57 minutes before that can happen.
So I pop in Excel Saga on the tv monitor. You'd be amazed at the sort of attention this can get in a classroom.
Then, the principal walks in with a parent....
Naturally, not wanting to cause problems for myself I pause the the tv...

The principal can't see it, since she's facing the parent, explaining what a great program I run... yadda yadda, points to someone editing a VampireHD bloodlust video.. (blood everywhere) and another kid using poser 5 (naked bodies everywhere).
The parent keeps looking at the screen, the students are trying really hard to keep quiet, and *I* don't want to draw any more attention to it than I have to.
That sort of set the tone for the rest of the day.

Mailmen, Assholes, Spring Break, and E-Nomine

Mailmen are wierd.
This week, my software shipments finally arrived. So I get like 1500 dollars worth of new software (digital video pack: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Encore, and Audition. Poser 5, and some odds and ends).
When I get home I notice that there is a package on the front porch, I can see it as I'm turning the corner to my house, it's THAT obvious. Here is my expensive software just sitting there. I got a second package that day, some plants my wife had ordered.. maybe 30 bucks worth of cactus stuff. She really likes succulents, so I indulge her if she lets me. This one wasn't on the porch. NOOOO. it was chucked over the back fence around the side. I wasn't right next to the fence either, so it's not like the delivery guy just lowered it down or anything, it was about 6 feet away. :/
This happens a lot, I wonder if they just get close and chuck it.
This is the last week of school for us before spring break. I hate the week before a break, everybody loses their damm minds. No work gets done, and most of the students turn into assholes... well bigger ones. On top of that, all my periods are filled up with students from all over the school who have finished their work and are bored. Like I'm there to entertain them or something. I'll take in Excel Saga tomorrow, that should go over nicely. If they can't read the subtitles, then they need to focus on lessons more.
I've promised to get some tutorials done for someone (who I doubt would read this), so I'll have to get that done next week while I'm on break and not babysitting students that teachers can't be bothered to keep in class. Plus I need to set up my graphic design workshop tutorials for school too. I've decided to include Poser into the imaging section this time, instead of just footnoting it into the animation like normally do. I predict 15 minutes before some dumbass realizes they can take all the clothes off and it turns into a beavis&butthead giggle fest.
Oh, and Andrew, I watched your video, I'd say it's 70% good, and has lots of promise. You really need to learn how to separate the 'acts' of your song if you are going to use long stuff like E-Nomine. I know you are all hot for lip sync, and it's getting better, at least they don't look like people having seizures any more. Stick to ONE PERSON per voice if you can though. Or at least try to make it look like the person is talking 'about' the stuff on screen. -

One of my students told me he's trying to get a job as a video editor.
Sweet. It seems to be in a church, so at first I'm thinking that he's making you know, brainwashing videos or bible stories or something. Then I started to think about it and realized that churches with a decent video editing system can film weddings and stuff and charge for it as part of the service. Makes sense right? Just one less thing to worry about when planning it, and the church gets good PR.
I hope it goes well for him. It's given me the idea to check around with some other churches in the area, and see if they have something similar setup. If they don't maybe I'll offer to set it up for them, train a couple guys into the art of making wedding videos (think music videos with wedding music.) and event videos.

Funny thing is though, this student is always listening to Rammstein, E Nomime, and watching Hellsing videos. I hope he doesn't use an E Nomine death and destruction vid to showcase his talents on the first day.
