I GOT MAH T-SHIRT!!!
No pics because my camera's dead! But I'm planning on buying another one soon sooooo....everyone can see how my amv.org duds are operating at 75% transparency. Not.
Why must they continue to make t-shirts that are see-through? I can't think of anyone (ok, excepting guttersnipes) who would blithely ignore the fact that one has to wear something under this shirt if they want to go out in public. GUYS INCLUDED. If they'd had black, I'd have ordered black, but I had to get white. I don't own any white t-shirts because they a) show the dirt and b) tend to be transparent, but now I do and it's my amv.org t-shirt, the one t-shirt I own that's really needs to be worn in public to fulfill its purpose in life.
The logo came out absolutely fantastic, great detail (at only 2" high every single little note is still clearly visible), great color, no complaints with the printing at all. I don't like the way it's situated ON the shirt, howver, but not much I can do about that. It's too high on the front and on the back, plus on the back the whole logo isn't big enough. Oh well, this is what I get for ruthlessly pursuing a non-official AMV.org t-shirt. Now I need a travel mug or something.
Oooo!! I have a bunch of decal print-up stuff laying around, I could print up mass quantities of the logo and give them to dokool and Bashar for their Iron Editor event at AAC. I don't know what else I'm going to do with this decal stuff. I'd probably get in trouble, actually...so let's NOT do that.
Erm:
Takeout: Over 100 hours, definitely. I threw out my credit sequence today and made another one I'm much happier with. Also made an intro that is either going to sabotage my entire AMV or pay off big time. :|
The Good: I want to get this thing out of here (meaning off my PC) because I'm very tired of looking at it. One thing confirmed/learned from making Takeout is that the odds of me being in love with what I create are fairly low. The only thing I can still watch and not feel ill about is my first AMV (AR issues notwithstanding), so I'm definitely not one of those editors who releases an AMV and is head-over-heels in love with it for months afterwards. This is probably because - by the time I finish an AMV - I've been dealing with it for well over six months, one way or another, and am thoroughly sick of it. Takeout...I've been dealing with for about four years. I'm going to be one very happy camper when it's finally off my plate (that's reason #2 this AMV was finished, I don't want it hanging over my head anymore).
The Bad: The above bears mentioning because I had a handful of "OMG, I have to make it!" AMV concepts rattling around in my head over the course of the past year and a half, however my enthusiasm/interest in them is now in negative numbers. This depresses me, because I know if I'd made then when I was excited about them it would have turned out ok (despite the fact that I don't have time to do anything more than I already do, so it's not like I was slacking off and didn't make them). Nevertheless, all those things I was once quite eager to tackle are now in the scrap heap.
The Ugly: Nothing that you people need to know about. :P

Birthdays everywhere
2008-10-03 17:14:49
How old ARE you, CCR? :P I'm sure there are a number of people around here who are older than you!
Maybe I should release Takeout on MY birthday....except I can't, because I'm not going to be at work that day. Hrm...
Still trying to put this off for as long as possible. I don't really want to get mixed up in all the AWA fuss. This weekend is the big "time to fix lingering annoyances and then encode it for distribution" debacle. Stay tuned for journal entries cursing Avisynth and VirtualDubMod.

Bad little sister, BAD!!!
2008-10-02 15:18:43
Attempting to be helpful, my sister took it upon herself to network with a representative of a marketing agency in Boston who - apparently - has "lots of connections." She showed them my AMV on the Tube because she couldn't find where my portfolio site is.
*facepalm x 50 million* Kill me now. Please. Make it stop.

?x2 or...THANK YOU COPYCAT_REVOLVER FOR BEING A GOOD GUY!!

There's another kind of AMV learning curve out there that has nothing to do with video editing software: the AMV community learning curve.
Yeah, apparently it's ok (perhaps even expected) to send older videos in a heap to AWA. That's nice to know, too bad I didn't. *mutter* So my journal post(s) now get to educate anyone else who didn't know, and perhaps demonstrate (for the umpteenth time) what a clueless n00b I am. Also, don't make public journal posts if you don't want people to know what you're really thinking, but see - I wanted an answer to my question and I got one (thx again CCR). I've learned a lot from people who respond to my journal posts, mostly things I'd never otherwise have learned. :)
There is a method to my madness, never doubt that! I tend to be entirely too proud of my methods, though, I'll admit that.

Apparently the "don't send a video that's been out for months and been shown lots of places to any more AMV competitions" clause doesn't apply to AWA?
No, I guess not. -_-
It's like no matter what I do, I wind up...regretting it.
*MUTTER*
*yells*
ok, I feel better now.
