  • QC response-at-large because I don't know who said it! 2008-10-09 15:21:21 "I don't understand what "moe-like" is supposed to be"

It's everything that makes you hate or love Mikuru. She makes me queasy, personally, but then again I don't think babies are cute and I have a pronounced aversion to teddy bears. This is not to say I don't like cute things, I just don't think those things are very cute. I have an excessively cute dog as a pet, for instance (see my profile for proof), but she's bred to herd cattle. Ever see a 25 lb dog herd bunch of a 1,500 lb cows? That is not something that can be done by a merely "cute" animal.

So let's say...I like cute things, but only if they have other redeeming, non-cute qualities.
  • Dum de dum 2008-10-09 12:24:15 So aside from some unhappy moments when I got the impression I'm doing something wrong by being bad at video editing and yet persisting in spite of it, I'm pleasantly surprised about the reception for Takeout. I'm just happy people are having fun watching it, because Aaron Copland was woefully neglected around here.

I wish I was able to obtain better quality music...but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Anyone ever finds this exact version of Hoe-Down and would like to make my day by passing that info along to me so I can go out and buy it, please do so. I spent four months looking for the music in Takeout, bought three CDs (totaling about $60, when all is said and done) and never found the version I wanted. Had to go with a copy of a copy I've had kicking around for years. There are some truly hideous versions of this music out there, let me tell you.

hrm, so this weekend I don't have to worry about AMVs at all - quite a relief - but then NEXT weekend I'm off to Another Anime Con where Takeout will make its debut on the big screen. That should be interesting, particularly since it's an older version of the AMV. It's not dramatically different, but a lot of the subtle extras are not in it. I'm looking forward to seeing what dokool and Bashar have up their sleeves for the Iron Editor event. They invited me to help judge it...sort of. I get nervous when people ask me to participate in something and then tell me flat out they're not going to let me in on what, exactly, they're doing. :| Then the following weekend is Bakuretsucon, where Takeout also will be and I most likely will not, despite the fact that it's not terribly far away. Working weekends is tough, sometimes.
  • Takeout is...out? 2008-10-06 12:42:10 http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=90998

Man am I glad to be done with THAT.
  • XD 2008-10-05 19:44:31 I deleted my credits and my intro. Tossed 'em, just like I do everything I spend tons of time on and then decide I don't like. Also tossed my encode, didn't like the filtering. Yes, such is the fate of a slow editor, who spends 15 hours on credits and intros and stuff she then throws out the window in favor of a 2-minute-to-complete intro and no credits and stuff!

I'm much happier now. I may even be able to release this tomorrow. The nightmareish(sp) qualities associated with my memories of the LAST AMV I officially released are getting more pronounced, though. At least there won't be as much fuss over this one. I think I'm going to use the exact same announcement thread tag line, though. Hey, I need to have as much fun with this as I possibly can.

*checks for spelling errors in Takeout for the 100th time.* I also need to stop making AMVs with so many words in them.
  • My dog is trying to eat my salt & vinegar potato ships, which I suspect are worse for her than they are for me. @_@ 2008-10-05 12:52:47 After normal run-ins with the wrath of AMV gods, the little bugger is compressing. ETA: 3 hours. And watch, I won't like the way my filtering came out when it's done. -_- This is the first time I've post-processed non-Advent Children footage and I am being reminded all over again why I do sooo love to work with footage which looks pretty spiffy in its natural state. That's right - I am capable of harassing something other than Cloud & Co.

Next: Re-purchase music for XII. I'm going to go out on a limb and try to make that AMV. If I fail, well, then I'll know I've hit my limit when it comes to making AMVs. If I succeed...massive self-confidence boost. Irregardless, it will probably take me until April to finish it (if I do at all), what with everything else that's going on, so it looks like Takeout is going to be the only other AMV I release this year and, depending on what kinds of curveballs life throws, possibly the last one ever. I failed the godix genre challenge! (Not that I took it up, but still, that would make a cute bumper sticker or something.)

I just realized I miswrote something in my credits... X_X *stops encoding process*

    SIGH
