A work in non-progress

So something wacky definitely happened either to my original Takeout video or to my revised/remastered one, aka something wacky definitely happened to affect the way my AVS scripts are being utilized by my computer.
This is Vista we're talking about, though, so I wouldn't really put ANYTHING past my computer. It can't even properly play my Dirge of Cerberus files, frustrating several stellar AMV concepts!! *note to self to abscond with someone else's computer in order to properly process them*
Best I can tell, my filters aren't as strong as they used to be. I can force it to be quite strong to see the effects, but cranking down saturation by -50 SHOULD produce much more dramatic results than a faint darkening of color. It used to, in fact I distinctly remember using very mild filter settings b/c the effects of them were so dramatic...not now, though. So the real question is, are they operating normally NOW...or were the operating normally THEN.
Drift for JCA Judge again? I don't really understand how this happens, but it's interesting nonetheless. At least this year I feel a lot better about my judging qualifications...last year I was kinda like "Huh???" (no offense to the individual who nominated me last year). Apparently my suggestions as to how to tweak the JCA nomming process got lost in the shuffle, which isn't a bad thing considering I don't remember what those suggestions were...just that they were thought worth considering. ^_^

STILL can't get my filters to work. *throttles hobby* Next step: reinstall VDM etc. If I can't figure this out, I have a serious problem on my hands.
In other news: semifinals yay! While I'm not dazed and shocked liked I was last year at this point, I am a bit bemused that two of the three videos I made this year not only made it to the semifinals, but are competing against one another. *sweatdrop*
In any case, much thanks to everyone who nominated them! This is pretty darn cool... ^_^

Uploaded v.2 of Takeout today, confirming further handiwork of AMV Gods. My old video was (now that it’s gone forever, *sniff*) definitely different, in terms of what filter results VDM was giving me. I do not understand this at all – I used the same script, same computer, same just about everything except for the original file (although apparently not, b/c SOMETHING changed). The file sizes differ by a good 5MB, too. So now I’m stuck with an unfiltered-looking AMV that is not the best it should be. Makes me quite mad. And when the VCAs are going on, no less! I just might attempt to wrassle up some forum-aid. My con entry is possibly a lost cause at this point…
Also, my mp4 file looks suspiciously squished, but maybe it's just me. It looked fine at home, but at work it's...squishy.

Bleeee-eh?

Finally ok with con submission et al...as far as I know. Plus, I'm (hopefully) uploading a remastered version of Takeout tomorrow that features improved audio quality and the correction of several issues which only recently came to my attention as "OMG, how the HECK did I screw that up?" items. I don't know that anyone but me will notice a difference, but I'll feel better about having the best possible AMV out there.
If the powers-that-be allow the swap to go through, this will mean yet another of my AMVs attains special edition status. I have to admit that I really like the sound of that. LOL More like blooper status...though. *cough* Not quite so bad as 'Bustin, certainly, but I still squawked when one issue in particular made itself known. -_- I'm waaaaayyy too obsessive about logic in my videos. "But Kyon can't be walking towards the club room when it's daylight out if Haruhi's hacking up Asahina when it's dark out" so... *insert more Red Text of Doom* "Why the heck did she put in those weird date/time stamps? It's distracting! Is that supposed to be Kyon? Why is he walking towards the room if he just left it??" I just can't win. -_-
*throttles imaginary viewer* Do you have ANY idea how HARD this video was to make??? Arrggghhh!! At least it makes some kind of [twisted] sense, the way I did it!
Someday I want to make an action video so I can throw silly concepts like logical progression out the window. :E

This is why I make comedy videos

Because my life is just soooo funny.
Finally got the dratted video properly (as far as I can tell) set up...then I got back and read the entry requirements a little more closely and discover they've changed a teensy bit from last year so my new encode may not be acceptable.
*throws something out the window*
The kicker is that this teensy change was possibly instigated in whole or in part because of the unfortunate issues with 'Bustin self-destructing on screen last year...I feel very bad if that is the case. No one ever did figure out what the heck was wrong with those con files and for all I know I'm sending in another ticking time bomb.
Thank goodness it never affected anyone else's videos. That would have been awful. :(
