It would be kind of cool to have a collaborative AMV logo. One thing I've noticed over the years with the logo contest is that the designs generally fall into one of two camps: logos that attempt to capture the spirit of AMV.org and logos that attempt to just look like cool logos. It was interesting to me, last year, that the top two vote getters represented one camp or the other.
So anyways, this collaborative logo idea thingy would, I assume (haha, silly me) stand a better chance of bridging these two camps. On the one hand you'd have a lot of folks squawking about making sure the logo adequately represents this site, and - on the other - folks squawking about making sure it looks buffed and polished. In a way I suppose it's a good thing the admins never set heavy-duty rules on the logo design, like it has to contain imagery of music and videos or something. It would drastically affect the types of designs submitted.

Is Apple trying to get rid of their iPod touch?

Everywhere I turn, companies, agencies and associations are giving away free iPod touch thingies. The first time I saw it was in an ad I put together for a fusion splicer company, which is giving away a free iPod with every splicer purchase (The joke in our office was that sure! I'll buy a splicer to get a free iPod...'cept the splicer costs about the same as a new car. Not exactly the sort of thing you buy JUST to get an iPod). Then a week or so later I saw two other companies pushing them, and now I have jobsinvt.com trying to get me to take a survey so I can win an iPod. And if these are the only offers I've noticed, I can just imagine that there's thousands of more out there, too.
Am I the only one noticing this rather sudden flood of iPod touch promotions? -

2008/09 has gone by awfully fast. This time last year I was just beginning to seriously wrangle with Takeout, having released two other videos already that year. This year I've got zilch. It's going to take quite awhile to beat 4+ years of AMV attempts with no finished product, though.
Also, I like this:
For the most part it's just that you're missing the categorical difference of fans who realized they can make music go along with various scenes from favorite anime, and editors who are interested in making something that stands artistically on it's own merits. ~Vivaldi
This really clicked with me, possibly in part because I pay a heck of a lot more attention to the concepts behind videos than the technical aspects of them. Brains, not brawn...although the right application of brawn can, of course, be an exercise of the brain. -

Wait, if I'm maid of honor, that means I have to hang around with the Best Man, right? Make small talk? Stand in the line? Pictures? Dance? Give a speech? Do...maid of honor things? :| I don't...I can't....what the heck did I just agree to do? ARGH!!
