JOURNAL: DriftRoot (Lauren C.)

  • It's been awhile since I released a video, so that's probably why I find all this interesting...a year too late to be timely: 2010-01-11 18:51:58 Final Fantasy Advent Ghosts.

I think this is what can happen when you don't explain the title of your video properly IN the video and someone else decides to post it/name it on their own. Or maybe this happens all the time. I don't know, I don't keep track of this sort of thing.

Well i must say pretty entertaining. i'm sure there was very little editing required for the movie sequences.... because the flick literally jumps around with camera angles at that same speed :p j/k

j/k?? Why bother saying something like that if...what...I don't...WHAT??? YES YOU DID MEAN IT!

i never edit a video that isn't mine to cut the name of the maker that is in it. so if your name or link is in it or your next ones ppl will know w/o the need of me giving you credit

This is one reason why, I suppose, we should put our handles IN our videos if we care the tiniest bit about proper credit being given. Some folks who post other people's videos don't want to take the time to explicitly state who the creator is if the creator can't be bothered to do so themselves IN the video. Fair enough, by this logic...to a point. This still doesn't seem to prevent random viewers from attributing the video to the poster, however, but that's their own fault.

Huh. I just had to urge to make/release more AMVs just so I can experience this sort of aftermath first-hand again. :| Now I know I'm REALLY out of practice!
  • Oh yeah, I've got homework..hellwork? 2010-01-09 15:40:30 I've got about one week until I move into my new apartment. This is fine, except I now exist in this peculiar limbo land of packing up all my stuff...but not stuff I need and not in boxes that are going to get in my way, which means I have this one little corner to put stuff in...which means I can't really pack anything. Despite the recent acquisition of a PS3 and AC2 (that's Assassin's Creed 2, not Advent Children 2, though I guess now I could get that, as well), I am bored as all hell.

Then I remember: I'm supposed to be an AMV editor.

Drat it all! NOW comes the irksome weight of responsibility, the nagging feeling that I've forgotten something, the aggravating itch that I just don't want to break down and scratch. The AMV Gods will be quite peeved at me if I do not exploit at least some of the free time I've been granted. Fortunately, I don't have to work on a full-scale AMV, a.k.a. another stab at AC (the Cloud kind) or, worse *shudders* XII.

Yes, SHUDDERS! The situation is so dire, so downright pathetic, that I honestly thought (cunningly, fox-like) to myself, "XII is a nightmare project. I'm going to want to gouge my eyes out if I try to make that video. But...what if I pretended to be making it, would that count? I destroyed all my clips/artwork in a fit of rage/as a warning to myself last year, so I have to rip all that footage again...which would take me a few days, easy. Then...if I decide (for the second time) that the video can't be made, the AMV Gods can't do anything bad to me because hey, at least I tried!"

That I have absolutely no fear at the thought of finding enough usable footage to make XII only proves my duplicity. Methinks the AMV Gods will see through this ruse, however, and so perhaps my time would be better spent working on my AMV Hell entries (which allows me to get out of XII for the time being).

    Let's time it!

    Start: 3:42 p.m.
  • VCAs already? 2010-01-05 10:13:59 Good grief...how time flies.

*watches controversy boil out of the forum woodwork* The year we have VCAs and there is not someone going on about something that has been gone on over dozens of times before is probably...hmm...impossible?

I don't know if I'll be voting this year; if I do, it'll just be the finals. I haven't kept up with the AMV scene as I normally do (been a TAD bit preoccupied) and if I don't have any independently discovered videos to compare and nominate, then I won't be nominating anyone. I can't even remember what videos I watched last week, nevermind from the entire past year!!

Also, apartment hunting is hell. It's even worse when you have a cold. I have to admit, though, that every place I evaluate is also judged on its merits as a den of AMV editing torture. This is rather silly, but still - I don't want to be working for hours on end in a cold, miserable little room, or trying to concentrate while my upstairs neighbors' kids pound the floors. I have a hard enough time without such distractions!
  • Thumbs the Word 2009-12-27 20:36:27 "Way too much text. Not reading any of it. Approved."

This is how to get pre-approved for AMV Hell 5, I guess: write lengthy concept statements. Now I've got to prove my concepts are worth the digital ink they're printed with. :| I may need beta testers for this insanity...

Also, I seem to have acquired a new job. Not only that, but the other job I was pre-screened for and really, really wanted has asked me back for a "real" interview... AND the job I almost got two months ago suddenly wants me, too. I do hope that by turning down the latter two offers in favor of my current commitment (I can't in good faith go back on my word at this point), I will not be cursed to lose said current commitment and be left jobless (again). Please please please please please please do not let that happen...........

ALSO, my kind sister got me a PS3 for Christmas, so gaming will once again be competing for my AMV time. After I move.
  • Takeout Tally...I have no idea how much I'm up to, but it's possibly approaching $15,000 EASY 2009-12-21 17:55:13 Takeout collateral damage must be increased by $5,396 - the sum total cost of my ankle surgery. This does not include three weeks of PT, either, so that'll probably add another $1,000, easy. If I was better at math, I'd figure out how much that AMV cost me on a frame-by-frame basis.
