Seriously? GIMME A BREAK
2010-02-27 15:40:38
I set aside a good chunk of time this weekend to work on AMV stuff, first being my AMV Hell entries, and what happens?
*checks watch*
I've been running up and down the stairs in my apartment for almost three hours, attempting to get my DoC footage - that was supposed to be straightened out - straightened out. First my PCs won't talk to one another so I can't transfer files back and forth, then Premiere won't load the footage, then it's cut off where it's not supposed to be, then it's not the right size, then I can't find the rotten source files (these being on DVDs I can't find, in a CD binder I can't find) so as to resize the footage and THEN I discover that I'm missing a very important source file that, for some reason, I have no record of ever possessing.
The AMV Gods are on a killing spree today! ARGGGHH!! Don't they realize that this is why I HATE MAKING AMVS??!! Seriously, do they think my making an AMV is going to cause World War III or something, so they're doing everything in their power to stop me? Jeez.

Arthritis is a terrible thing
2010-02-23 08:07:58
Particularly when you're young and generally in the mindset that you should get to enjoy good health for a good chunk of your life. It wears on you, too, just that constant pain/ache/twinge or whatever one suffers from.
<begin rant></end rant>
You people who have your health should definitely time a few moments each day to appreciate it.
The admins should put some rant code into our journals that works sort of like a spoiler tag. That would be very amusing and save me from deleting huge swaths of whining no one is interested in. :D

And awaaaay we go!

Bacon Bits
Pre-editing: 21 hours
Editing: .25
The Good: Old PC pulled through and I've got my hands on DoC footage that is 100% perfection. Yes, I admit it, I mentally did a Leo "I'm the king of the woooorld" about three times.
The Bad: Time to edit!!
The Ugly: It's not ugly, but I feel a small token of duplicity at the way I've gradually set up my new apartment as an editing den of vice. When you walk in, it seems like a pretty nice, pretty normal place. You look down the hall and can see a nice 3/4 view of my living room, with normal bookshelves, a normal futon, a normal wall clock. Then...you walk a little closer and you start to see that there's a desk - not a tv - set up in front of the futon; a desk with a huge widescreen monitor and a PS3 perched on top of it. A little further, and you realize the placid aged oak furniture is sharing this space with a black metal shelf holding a TV a dizzying assembly of DVDs, video games, manga, etc. Worst of all, there's a Vampire Hunter D wallscroll beside the TV )I need to get a frame for it, b/c those black plastic hanging bars are sooo tacky).
So yes, my entire living room is designed to lull one into a sense of normalcy just before the awful truth that there is a Strange Person residing here hits home. Of course, a close-up look at my bookshelves also would tip the casual visitor off. It's why I put the mainstream novels closest to the hallway. @_@

Have you seen my mug?
2010-02-19 20:13:24
My AMV.org travel mug is missing. I had it at work with me, now it's gone. I don't remember bringing it home, although I suppose I could have. But, if I did, why can't I find it at home?
:( I love that mug. It's the most awesome logo-emblazoned mug I own. Ok, it's the only logo-emblazoned mug I own, but still. It's like, I mug I'm quite pleased to carry about in public.

Progress is made
2010-02-06 08:20:44
I wish our journals made it easier to access previous posts. Keeping track of things like AMV projects is tough when can never remember what the latest timestamp was.
Bacon Bits
Pre-editing: 15-20 hours
Editing: Technically I haven't started the real version, so...0?
The Good: My old PC is finally up and running again, so this is a huge step in the right direction insofar as rescuing my DoC footage is concerned. If I can't do that, then I can't make Bacon Bits. I'm including my time spent wrangling with the computer in my pre-editing tally, because if it wasn't for this 17-second video sequence, I probably wouldn't be bothering at all.
The Bad: I'd almost forgotten - but not quite! - how aggravating it is to reinstall the XP OS on my old PC compared to, say, Vista or Win 7. Drivers aren't found, stupid things like NIC cards don't exist and the concept of "out-of-the-box functionality" just does not apply. On top of all this, the computer also decided it no longer fancied one of its CD drives, it prefers I not utilize one of only four USB ports and it thinks my network adapter is the spawn of Satan or something. I loved that old PC, it took a lot of punishment and kept on chugging, but it always was a royal pain to resuscitate. Doesn't it realize it would be in a landfill somewhere if not for my goodwill??
The Ugly: Sister's wedding is in 3 months. Moi is maid of honor. Moi has not gone to the gym in nine months and needs a slim-down program that does not include more hours spent sitting in front of a computer, making some 17-second video that probably won't even make it onto AMV Hell 5. -_-
