JOURNAL: DriftRoot (Lauren C.)

  • Flashback time 2010-06-26 13:41:49 Seems Takeout got some air time somewhere last weekend...or something. AnimeNEXT? Random blog mention? Something got people searching for it on the 'Tube...which is kind of amazing. So far I haven't gotten: "You don't even know where your own video is being shown??"

The irony of people saying this on YouTube - which exists to exploit further the uncontrolled dissemination of videos - never fails to amuse me.

In XII land, I am making an effort to learn some more advanced AE functions (and re-learn the ones I've gotten rusty with, which isn't saying much about my skills). There are still a few discs left to rip, but it seems like the longer I a) avoid listening to the music and b) see the footage, the better I feel about the whole endeavor. Bad, bad sign.

BUT! Hopefully my clip will make it into AMV Hell 5. Please please please please please....otherwise I'll be forced to make an AMV out of it. :( At least it sounds like it's one of the few musical entries, that's gotta help.

The Good: Third disc is done being ripped and clipped. Two more to go.

    The Bad:
I haven't decided if the bulk of the masking is going to be done in PS or AE. I also haven't decided how much I feel like doing, since most of it will only impress people who realize what I did, and the goal IS kind of to make it seem like I didn't do anything. I've learned, however, that it doesn't take much to impress people who DON'T know what you're doing...so I'll have to see if I can exploit that.

The Ugly: I'm double ripping and clipping the same series for two wildly different videos. Way to go with the focus, Lauren.
  • A real AMV editor who now has zero excuses left (except work, mebbe) to put off XII any longer. 2010-06-12 18:54:37 I made weak promises to folks during my sister's much-planned for wedding in Boston this weekend that I'm working hard on another video. I think the word "good" even might have accompanied "video" a few times, too, so now the pressure's really on. Great way to stay off my poor feet, though, which consumed eight Band-Aids during the course of a four-hour reception involving a lot of me not even dancing very much. My ankle is KILLING ME... thanks again, Takeout. That AMV has now not only cost me more money than perhaps any AMV has cost anyone else EVER...it's plaguing me constantly.

I was quite thrilled when Footloose was the third song the D.J. played. I seriously doubt I will ever make that AMV, but when you see how much fun people have partying to that song, it definitely induces second thoughts.

The Good: TA DAAA!! I'm done! It's submitted!

The Bad: This is now over with and behind me, but - as usual - I ran into last minute glitches that threatened major trauma. Essentially Photoshop, both CS2 and CS4, decided a vanishing point plane was corrupt and crashed themselves with elaborate "Memory Fail at 1100bbAA.010435.XLB critical error reported...." messages I typically associate with catastrophic hard drive failure.

The Ugly: Please god let my hard drive not be failing. Er...also, I spent 44 hours or so on a 28-second AMV Hell entry...which I could easily see not making the final cut. How's that for ugliness? I must say my entry came out pretty spiffy, though...it screams Drift AMV, particularly if you look at it close enough.
  • AMV Hell 5 entries....GO!! 2010-06-03 18:04:30 Last call for Jeff Foxworthy impersonators. Seriously. I don't want to do this myself.
