Missing t-shirt
2010-10-15 19:19:43
My AMV.org t-shirt, much coveted and obtained through great effort before they were actually obtainable, is MIA. Not sure if it was a victim of my recent move...but it's missing, just like my AMV.org mug, which was obtained with not nearly as much trouble, but which was much more useful to me.
So I go forth to AAC tomorrow with nothing but my AMV.org pin, in no small part because wearing the gag-gift 'Bustin t-shirt that was made for me - with "Driftroot" printed on the front - is just not going to happen. Ever. It was a very nice gift and I got a huge laugh out of it...but...no.

Pre-edit: 14 hours
Edit: 0
In spirit, I've spent a lot more than 14 hours on this non-existent video. Now that I am in my new apartment, which has a lot more "character" (in a good way) than my old one, I feel in better mental condition to make an AMV. My optimism about how well this endeavor will turn out has lately taken a drastic turn for the worse, however, mostly because I've eyeballed my AMV track record and been unimpressed by the downward spiral it reflects. On the other hand, I've never considered myself anything but a freak of editing nature, so what the heck am I worrying about??
Onwards! Meaning...I will finish ripping another disc this weekend, like I should have done two months ago!

Let's see, where was I?
2010-10-05 22:11:54
Move: Complete. Now I'm just dealing with the aftermath, namely trying to fit my household into an apartment that's a third of the size of the last place I rented, which was basically a medium-sized house. Most exciting thing that happened while moving? Having U-Haul accuse me of not returning their truck. -_-
AMV Hell 5: My clip made it in! Yes, I am responsible for more 80's music/Advent Children-spawned ridiculousness and this is probably the worst of the bunch. The first five seconds got edited out, which on the one hand completely destroyed one joke since those five seconds set up the whole clip, but on the other hand I guess someone felt the rest of the clip could survive without it. It was definitely a stretch, anyways. I admit both the beginning and end were tacked on to give it a better shot at AMV Hell inclusion - if I'd ever made an AMV out of it, it would have been presented differently to better effect. Speaking of which, the video quality seemed really poor and my clip really sped up...
New Site Logo: I like it - a kinder, gentler logo is a welcome change.

Stress

Lots of it. Moving, work, family, bad new mattress, depressed corgi...and now AMV Hell 5: "Not sure if I'll cut any clips. Picking out which ones are too long is tough. Some are just so random and not very funny.. I'm not sure why I ok'd them to begin with. - ssgwnbtd"
That would be mine. Most likely. Particularly since my clip got ok'd only because - purportedly - my concept statement was too long to bother reading. Thing is, a lot of my fondest AMV Hell memories have nothing to do with funny clips and everything to do with random stuff. Didn't they say they wanted random, weird stuff? *investigates* Yes! "The format of the project is funny/amusing/strange/awesome short anime music videos." I'd like to think my clip is both strange and awesome and therefore not full of fail.
My week can get worse, I just really hope it doesn't. What could happen is that my Internet connection will fail to be installed in my new apartment on Friday and therefore I become computerless, phoneless and TVless for an indeterminate amount of time. I hate Comcast. Stupid company insists it's going to install my service even though there's no cable drop to the house. I think I'm going to call them again right now and complain. Again.

Logo contest goodness
2010-09-20 21:30:12
Not sure how anyone else feels about the entries this year, but I like 'em. Ok, so there's not a ton of entries, but I'd rather see quality over quantity. Nominating 10 for the first round seems high, though, with so few logos to choose from....
AMV Hell 5: Did my clip get in? Did it get shortened? Is it a low spot in the hilarity, due to its less-than-hilarious nature? Do people appreciate satire? Do they realize how old I am and what it means to have grown up with a mother who was an aerobics instructor in the '80's? Please AMV Gods, give me a free pass just this one time - you screwed me over badly enough making that clip, I at least deserve to see it fulfill its purpose.
