The Good: Finished editing the music. I still think it's too long, but I couldn't cut anymore without ruining half the song.
The Bad: Now I have to finish ripping clips, meaning I have to figure out what's left to finish.
The Ugly: Then it's time to take a critical look at how much footage I have and decide whether this whole thing is even going to be possible. If it's not, then I guess it's back to another the drawing board. Fortunately there's another idea I've had for a long time that is a lot easier to put together...
Heh, I was watching some action AMVs lately and got bit by the "I want to make an action video" bug. Just a little bite, though, not enough to actually scratch.

So here's what I just did: created a rather long screenplay about the past week or so at my job. Typically this makes me feel better, as I prove to myself that a) I'm not crazy, b) I am competent and c) I just need to blow off steam. This time I feel that a) I'm kind of maybe not so non-crazy, b) I seem rather incompetent and c) am now more paranoid that ever that I'm going to be fired sooner rather than later. So: DELETE
]type type type type type] Good grief...DELETE
Haven't done that for awhile. It wasn't very satisfying, either.

Not much progress to report on Addict other than I got my hands on the music I need and started editing it. I have a bit of a project ahead of me to alter the song, or at least, I remember it being a pain in the butt when I did so back in 2006/07, or whenever it was I first attempted this AMV, and thus far my memory is not proving wrong. The goal this time around is to be even more ferocious with the pruning shears, unfortunately/fortunately. A four-minute, eye-gouging exercise in ARGH I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH FOOTAGE FOR THIS is not a real goal of mine, so shorter it must become! And FASTER! It's so weird how slow this music is.
I think editing music this way must fall on the math side of the brain, because I get a similar "uh, wha?" brain freeze sort of mental state editing as attempting long division. Do you young people even KNOW what long division is??? Do you have to do it up through seventh grade because calculators are forbidden? I don't have kids, so I don't know what's going on in today's educational institutions...

I lost track of which discs I've ripped clips from. Usually, typically, up until now, I've never had this problem because I've ripped and clipped one disc at a time in order and in a fairly short time frame, perhaps a week or two max.
For this project, I ripped a few discs, which come in doubleDVD cases and are not labeled, I might add, so I don't know until I pop in a disc what episodes I'm going to get...whoever at ADV was responsible for deciding NOT to actually LABEL their DVDs needs a stern talking to and no, these aren't bootlegs. God help me if I spilled all the DVDs on the floor and had to put them back in their cases in the right order, it's bad enough remembering which is in which of my DVD drives then discovered encoding problems, deleted my clips, ripped them again and meanwhile continued ripping from other discs, but not actually making clips. Now I've got some eight discs worth of stuff on my PC in all sorts of rippedness/clippedness state and no clear idea of what I've REALLY done or need to do over again. Meanwhile, the old dread of "I don't have enough footage to pull this off" is seeping in because I'm picky like that. I just do not do well with shoving random clips onto the screen, it's the complete antithesis of how I operate.
So what do I do? Complain in my journal instead of spending my time actually resolving the problem. Is it time for the logo contest again? I'd like to shift gears a little and complain about detesting logo creation for the umpteenth time. Not that I have any new ideas, I burnt that bridge to a crisp a long time ago.
