Whatever it was I said about getting away with murder, it's true.

The Kingdom of L.F.S.
Pre-edit: 2 hours
Edit: 20 hours
The Good: Still working on it. I had it in my head for the past couple weeks that using anything with a voice-over automatically barred this AMV from public viewing. This is not true, witness all the unnecessarily long AMV Hell wanna-be's out there. I guess all that would bar L.F.S. are prohibitions on trailer parodies or non-music audio.
The Bad: Started messing with AE today and got slapped upside the head with how I generally just bumble through that program, haphazardly achieving the results I want after much hair-pulling and "D'OH!!" moments. For example: masking the wrong layer, applying effects to things which have nothing to apply effects TO, failing to remember to activate keyframes, etc., etc. At least I know my way darn well around the pen tool.
The Ugly: I put as much time into work this weekend as I have into my video. I enjoy graphic design, but you know what? When I have to spend out-of-office time on stuff I should be able to get done AT the office, and therefore can't spend my "free" time doing something else in front of my computer, I get a little irritated. Ok, a LOT irritated.

30 seconds of video so far

Granted, the easy part is over with. This is ironic, because I had initially thought the beginning of this AMV would be the hard part...which implies I don't know what I'm in for at all.

The Kingdom of L.F.S.
Pre-edit: 2 hours
Edit: 8 hours
The Good: I am unutterably pleased to report that I am having a fantabulistic time with this video. Haven't jumped up and down in my chair like this since probably 2008 or so, AMV-wise. Eight hours of work for about 30 seconds of pretty solid AMV feels like a win-win-win to me! See? I can be a good editor when the AMV Gods aren't conspiring against me! I don't [necessarily] hate my hobby!! WAHOOO!!
The Bad: Ran into a few glitches (as usual) over the course of the past two days. For one, Premiere CS4 doesn't seem to create sequences which, by default, match your project settings, so three projects and six sequences later I finally figured out what was wrong with my frame rate, my AR and my export settings. This was after I'd already done a bunch of work, so I had to recreate it all in the final project file. For two, I spent all morning creating four of five different scenarios for a certain scene and carefully saved all the footage sets in another sequence so I could easily go back to it. When I did go back, most of it was all messed up and I was missing clips. Don't know what the heck happened there. For three, Adobe Media Encoder sure takes a long time to export stuff. :| Um, oh yes: fourth, my graphics card turns out to be less-than-compatible with CS4, which is causing horrendous jerkiness and slowdown not only of my video, but the entire interface. Not sure if I will wind up purchasing a new one to try and solve this problem, but it's really slowing me down.
The Ugly: I am working linearly at the moment because I do not have the luxury of working on later parts of the video without first figuring out exactly what I'm doing in the beginning parts. Truthfully, though, I thought about what's going to happen down the road as hard as I cared to and then just closed my eyes and hit the gas. It's baaaaaad.

There's a menu thingy on the top right-hand side of the forum pages! SWEET!! When did that happen? Have I just not noticed it for months/years or something? :|

KSA for...
Pre-edit: 2 hours
Edit: .25 hours
I'm still somewhat obsessed with the idea of a parody trailer of Knights of Badassdom, so I really did take the proverbial leap off a cliff and am now watching the scenery flash by as I plummet towards a real mess of one sort or another. I'm not trying very hard not to think about the unfortunate circumstances I've willfully embraced, which is actually a good thing. If I was trying hard, then I'd be in big trouble. I'm sort of getting the same vibe right now as I did with my first video, where I was convinced nutty nonsense could work as long as people were willing to just go along with it. I was not very concerned then with "You can't do that because it's too stupid/weird/silly!!" and I'm really not concerned right now.
Anyways, first hurdle is apparently encoding the video. I decided to use UTvideo again, since I plan to clipify in Premiere, not in VDM. I'm now waiting 17 hours for my video to be AVIfied, which I didn't expect. I sincerely hope my computer doesn't decide to freeze up on me before it's done encoding. My PC has being doing that ever since I reformatted my HD and I can't figure out why.
