  • Ugh, I'm so burned out on this thing... 2012-02-04 21:51:04 The Kingdom of L.F.S.

The Good: Nothing, four more hours down the drain.

    The Bad: :(

The Ugly: I seriously just want it to be over with. Can I just release this AMV anonymously and walk away from it, like it never existed? Can I?

Lesson Learned: Do not spend more than six months on an AMV. 4.5 months was previously my limit, and I've gone waaayyy over that with this one. Let's hope I don't get really crazed and hit Ctlr+A, Shift+Delete in a fit of aggravated, callous exhaustion.
  • *is a little bit freaking out* 2012-02-03 20:15:32 I've got two weekends left to finish this AMV, and yet just last weekend I was telling myself I had a month to work out the final details. Official pre-panic has set in, and it is becoming more and more likely that the video that I send to early spring cons is not the video I wind up releasing. Way too many last-minute effects and fine-tuning going on.

ARGH!!! This is sooo hard!! I wish I knew what I was doing so I could just DO IT!

So I guess I should just get this clear right now: L.F.S. is, yes, another Advent Children AMV. Unfortunate, unexciting, unoriginal...I know. But I didn't plan on this, it just sort of happened, just like it just sort of [almost] always happens. Believe me, I'd love to be able to make good on the non-AC AMV concepts I've got. They're really outstanding concepts, I just don't seem to be up to the task. I need to be properly inspired and motivated to make an AMV, and not a lot both inspires and motivates me, and what does usually fails to fall within my realm of expertise.

It's enough to almost make me wish I'd saved all that Gankutsuou footage I ripped and organized for XII. Now that was a glorious disaster that didn't get a proper chance. I faux-weep bitterly over that to this day.
  • This is becoming so routine that I'm forgetting to keep good records. 2012-01-31 21:46:56 The Kingdom of L.F.S.

Final stretch promises some real challenges, but I will do my best. I've suddenly run into some compromised weekends, so I have less time to finish up than planned. :|
  • And there we go, finally over the 100 hours of effects landmark, making this my most effectish endeavor to date! 2012-01-28 19:17:01 Too bad it doesn't look it...but I guess that means success, since some of the more time-consuming effects are ones which are intended to blend invisibly with the original footage. Watch: I will get credit for "effects" I didn't do! LOL

Found some really badly animated footage just now. I spent a few minutes tearing my hair out, trying to determine how I managed to mess it up, before coming to the conclusion that it is a problem with the ORIGINAL footage, not my effects. This makes two quasi-glitches I've discovered. Can't say I'm too proud of this, but I'm probably one of only a handful of people who know these oddities exist, if indeed anyone else actually does. :| Certainly on one cares, I just think they're kind of interesting.

Fortunately I'm now in cleaning up mode, fixing all the accumulated dust and dirt which accumulates during lengthy effects work. For the most part, it's worth it. For one thing, I discovered I hadn't finished properly editing one sequence and caught it before someone else does. :|
  • EAAGHHH!! 2012-01-26 19:38:01 The Kingdom of L.F.S.
    Pre-edit: 3 hours
    Edit: 76 hours
    Post-Production/Special Effects: 98 hours

The Good: It's almost done, thank god. It's not the best thing ever, but it shows I put considerable time and effort into it, improved my editing and (this is yet to be proved) can make an entertaining, fairly original AMV. Not sure how original a trailer AMV can be when you use a single source that fits the trailer almost perfectly...but this wouldn't have been made if it hadn't fit, and what I had to do to MAKE it fit was where the 98 hours on special effects came in, so there!

The Bad: I've passed that magical point where I DON'T GIVE A DAMN anymore about fixing what's wrong!! Or rather, I give a damn, but the logical outcome of that is ripping this video apart and creating a new one, and since there is no way THAT is ever going to happen, frankly, my dears, I don't give a damn.

The Ugly: Which is a lie, because now that it's almost done, I see other directions it could have been taken with greater success. But I'm so weary of working on it (and have run out of time) that I simply must stop. BUT not before further tweaking just a few more things, in some cases delving quite deep into my AE comps and compromising existing footage. Gotta love it. This is how you get an "10" for effort, folks, and it's no fun.

Hrm, what else? Oh yes, tried creating a credit sequence a few nights ago and it bombed, big time. Time for Plan B. Seems I have to finish my announcement poster and also make a new sig banner...*sigh* so much work, releasing a new AMV.
