JOURNAL: DriftRoot (Lauren C.)

  • Waiting to inhale. 2012-03-19 17:43:00 Tekkoshocon is a go - L.F.S. is a comedy/parody finalist. Still waiting on Sakura-Con and Anime Boston - hopefully the latter will be determined tonight (PLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEAASSSSSSSEEEEE let me be an AB finalist, PLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSSSSSEEEE).

I wasn't too anxious before, but now things are swinging that way. As far as I know, my video was probably among the last 25 out of 173 screened for Anime Boston, and was likely viewed after 10+ hours of AMV torture at around 1-2 a.m. in the morning. Does this sound like a great setup for rational, enthusiastic AMV judging? I'd be ready to kill someone by then. I just have this horrible feeling that I'm going to not get in again... I suppose I can take comfort in knowing that at least this time my entry won't be knocked out of the running because it's "too meta." I hope, anyways. :| Worse thing I did was realize after the fact that I had the wrong filters applied to the video, so it doesn't look as good as it should, AND one of my lip synch segments got knocked off by two frames, which actually does make a big difference.

L.F.S. is pretty much ready for release, though I realized last night that I need to make an emergency change somewhere. I got so wrapped up in crazy credits that I neglected to actually mention anywhere a) the title of the AMV, b) who made it, c) video/audio sources. Some of these can be inferred and/or figured out, but I've got to do something to make it clearer, at least for YouTubers who might try to swipe it.

Still don't know if L.F.S. will get yanked from the Tube for what it's doing to The Knights of Badassdom. Way I see it, this is only going to increase interest in the movie. Right? Right?
  • The AMV Goods are so cruel 2012-03-11 21:03:10 The Kingdom of L.F.S.
    Pre-edit: 3 hours
    Edit: 78 hours
    Post-Production/Special Effects: 158 hours

My Premiere project file has become irrevocably corrupt. This is the end of the line. *SIGH* Time to salvage what I can.
  • *gouges eyes out* GHHAAAAAHHHHH!!! 2012-03-11 13:26:25 Previous Quote: This is going to be the laziest credit sequence I've ever made.

YEAH RIGHT. Whhhyyyyy do I say things like this? It's like a dinner bell for the AMV Gods letting them know there's a fresh sacrifice waiting on the alter!! This is the most outrageously time consuming credit sequence I've ever made!

Also discovered in the process a few important source files have gone missing, so some of my AE comps are now broken and unusable. Hopefully I won't have a need to access them again, but one never knows. :|

    And so we now have:

    The Kingdom of L.F.S.

    Edit: 78 hours
    Post-Production/Special Effects: 154 hours

-_- My back and neck are also starting to go out on me, so I don't have much choice about wrapping this up as soon as possible. But hey, at least I'm excited about my AMV again, right? No one can say I'm "meh" and apathetic, now!
  • @ Bashar 2012-03-10 14:27:41 I'm not going to Tekko, just my AMV.
  • NOW I remember why I shouldn't wait so long to release a finished AMV: apathy. 2012-03-10 08:42:01 Every day that goes by, all enthusiasm just gets sucked out of me. I really hope that I get a little more interested and excited again when I release L.F.S.

One advantage to this, I suppose, is that being fairly "meh" about it means that if anyone else is "meh" or worse, it probably won't bother me as much as it might if I was all "look @ my kewl AMV!" Yeah, there's some kewl stuff in there and five/six months ago I was thrilled to pieces about how everything came together, but right now I am Bored. To. Death. with my video, something that's never happened with any of my others. Definitely my least favorite of the bunch.

Hrm. So this weekend is the last time I will probably work on this. Going away next week and won't be back until very late Sunday night. Then Tekkoshocon is right around the corner, and regardless of whether L.F.S. makes the finals, it still will be "out," so I need to put it out there within that 2-3 day window.

    To do list:
    • Finals tweaks to some masking/lip synching I may be able to improve. Possibly also one major scene change that I have tried about 10 different ways and just can't settle on. Also need to change intro green screen.

    • Finish credit sequence.

    • Finish announcement poster.

    • New banner for sig. This not going well, for some reason. Usually I have fun with this, but it's just not turning out to be a pleasant project.

    • Final encode for the Web & uploading of course.

    *lightbulb goes off*
I feel like my professional life as a project/product development/marketing coordinator is seeping into my hobby. Maybe THAT'S why I'm so meh about all of this right now!!
