I'm doing nothing
2012-08-06 19:48:49
Actually, I've been catching up on a lot of reading (three books in one week, I'm a fast reader, but I'm still not reading as fast/as much as I used to), tending to my ailing corgi (severe arthritis, pancreatis, UTI, and all sorts of other things that are expensive to fix, $500 this month on a single vet bill, a little more than I've been spending on a monthly basis for the last 10 months) and attempting to finish Thief 3.
Thief is my favorite video game series. I have played #1 and #2 (and Thief Gold) more times than I can count, but for some reason I have never been able to get more than halfway through Thief: Deadly Shadows. Actually, I know why: it's not classic "Thief." Yesterday I logged a solid hour and a half on T3 when the power suddenly went out and corrupted my quick save, meaning I have to do all that work all over again. -_-
All of this instead of editing, of course. I can't think when it's hot and humid out, I just want to pretend I'm somewhere else!

Gateway drugs, please help
2012-07-04 13:47:20
Following my own advice, I created my first non-announcement, non-help seeking forum thread in years. I hope people will contribute...I'm just asking folks to share favorite AMVs they use to show people "this is an AMV!"

And to clarify, since apparently I was not clear...

There is nothing wrong academic discussions in the forums, I love academic discussions! (See this journal?? Do you think I think that sort of thing is a waste of time or not enjoyable??) I just feel that if there were more casual, fun, relevant, college-courses-in-psychology, sociology, history and philosophy-not-required discussions in the forums, they would be a more active, engaging, welcoming place where people aren't scared, uncertain or unable to participate. It's the absence of those other threads I regret, not the presence of academic discussions.
See? This is why I have avoided posting in the forums for years, now. Which means that I'm part of the problem, as I think I've said more than a few times. Bad Drift. BAD. I need to go make a fun thread...

Awww!!! I made someone cry! :D

QC: I used to LARP back in the day so this video made me laugh until I cried.
I haven't gotten very many QCs for LFS, but I think this is my favorite one so far. ^_^
Right now I plan to spend a good part of the day tomorrow toiling away at my AMV. First I've got to put back my "FAIL" sequence, then I've got to figure out what's wrong with my video footage. It's coming out with with a heavy black border around the edges, which means it's not the size it is supposed to be or something really screwy is going on. Or both, of course...that's the most likely reason.
It's kind of funny, storyboarding is usually considered the holy grail of AMV planning, but I've never done it. The only AMVs I've managed to create are those which I had a very clear vision for, however. This current video I'm working on, I have been tossing around for almost a decade, now, and knew precisely how I wanted the intro to go this whole time...but not the rest of it. Started making it, and found out the intro was totally impossible, but meanwhile I put other stuff in that was pretty cool, but then had to throw it ALL out b/c it doesn't work with my new, unplanned-for intro. :| Yep. I am a poster child for AMV inefficiency.
Also, I got carded tonight buying a bottle of wine! First time someone's asked for ID in about a year, which goes to show I should buy alcohol in my gym clothes more often. I think it means I'm getting into old maid stage, though, when I'm pleased instead of irritated at having to haul out my license.
